I find that people who show up with poorly behaved dogs often claim it’s because their dogs love going places
Well-behaved dogs love going places too, but they don't cause trouble when they get there!

No there’s a difference haha. My dogs earn the privilege of going places, I don’t take them places because they’re bad at home. The fact that a lot of people bring dogs who they’ve spent long hours and effort training out and it goes well, and people give them positive attention often encourages people who don’t train their dog to do the same. They think they just “need to get the dog used to the excitement” If I had a dollar for every time I hear nails desperately scratching and turn to see a dog dragging someone toward me, I could retire in style. What do I usually hear? “He just wants to say hi.” “You better thank the powers you believe in that my big dog is super tolerant of annoying yappers running at his face” lol.Well-behaved dogs love going places too, but they don't cause trouble when they get there!
I am a dog rescue and especially the ones no one wants...the pits and pit mixes. I pull these dogs as my space and monetary constraints allow and I have each one professionally trained and totally vetted. Then I rehome this with only the most responsible and loving families. The person you describe is not even average in terms of anything; they are exactly the type of crap who shouldnt be allowed to own any dog whatsoever. I am so glad your little goat wasnt killed. When our first baby goat was born we invited our neighbors to look over the fence, and someone who was visiting them brought this half-crazed pittie over on a chain leash. It was going nuts trying to bite its owner to get off the leash and scared the spit out of our poor goat who was just learning to stand. I have nothing against pitties by the way, but if your dog acts like that on my land he’s going to find himself pushing up collards. I’ve always wondered why on earth you would drag your dog over to someone else’s property to see their animals.
Maybe saying this is my property, I own it, I control it. You are welcome, your dog is not. If you bring it back, I will insist you both leave, and mean it.*** has lots of chickens. Swore up and down her dog was OK with chickens.
After an hour of telling her he wasn’t ok, and her saying she’s keeping extra special eye on him, I went to empty my bladder......
I’m down one bar rock chick. Broody has a bald patch from protecting chick. Dog went forcefully into her suv with explicit warning that if a paw hits my dirt it will be shot.
Why can people not have control over their dogs?
If something tries to kill you or your own you should try to do so right back to protect them.I dislike - in general - people suggesting and commending ideas of violence. Anyone should stop a person injuring/killing/threatening a living thing. Mentioning firearms seems unneeded if everyone there has one, and gives off a feeling that you want the justification of using one, especially in momentary anger. I commend all trained police and drilled drill instructiors who compel attention and command comprehension without any weapon.
But assumptions and bias have led to this being one-sided.If something tries to kill you or your own you should try to do so right back to protect them.![]()
Good for you! I appreciate your ability to stand up for what is right. I hope I'm not annoying youIt’s a wonder people get pissy after a while of people hounding their posts.
Problem is solved.
If I choose to shoot a dog that has destroyed my stock, I am well within my rights. I frankly don’t care if you believe in firearms or not. I will use whatever means necessary to keep this from happening ever again.
