UNPOPULAR OPINIONS! 🥴

Unpopular opinion here. I don't see why some people get so offended when someone says that game birds aren't the best thing since fire.

Sure, they're neat and useful, but my phoenixes are just as good as a lot of people's game birds and they don't have the problem of killing every other male they see

I have nothing bad to say about Phoenixes. But they were created in part from game chickens. That's why they can be good survivors in a free range settings. And that proves my point. Gamefowl genetics are the key. Almost all of the good survivor breeds today are either gamefowl directly or come from gamefowl backgrounds, with the exceptions of a few heritage free range duel purpose breeds that are obscure enough they haven't been touched much by widespread hatchery propagation for several generations. Icelandic birds for example. I would submit that many of the American duel purpose breeds were as good of survivors as the Icelandic birds. But survivability has been recently breed out of the American breeds, with some specific lines being exceptions.

I’ve got a few crazy a$$ birds that if they don’t have game in them they should. I do not prefer the birds I have that would survive a predator attack! Period. I guess I want the fat, lazy birds that need my protection.

I’m not breeding birds for survivability. It is my responsibility to protect my investment.

Right? :love

Another one, I love roosters! I love how they watch over and care for the hens, I feel much safer with them guarding my flock. They are handsome and I like their crowing.

And this may seem odd, but I like the challenge of training a rooster to get along with me. I have only dealt with one nasty OEGB roo who refused to get along with me even after a year and a half of consistent training, let's just say that with him, my days were never plain.

Hawks are predators. They stalk, seek, strike. Thinking a prey animal could possibly outwit a predator 100% of time is foolish.

Ah, now that's a straw man argument. I never said that chicken could outwit a predator such as a hawk 100% of the time. I specifically said that no wild prey animal wins 100% of the time but that my chickens are as good as a wild prey animal. I'll quote what I said:

My birds beat predators. Or to put it another my, my birds beat predators as well as any wild prey animal in the North American woods do. No prey animal is 100% predator proof. But prey animals should beat predators on the vast majority of predation attempts. My birds do.
