UNPOPULAR OPINIONS! 🥴

I have actually never vaccinated my birds for mareks but I’m not opposed. The only birds I ever had that were vaccinated for mareks were Silkies from Alabama Silkies and I never had any issues with having them in my flock.

I had problems with Mareks. Did a ton of research and my decision was to vaccinate. I have older birds that have no outward symptoms of Mareks.

to each his own on that.

That calf was only 4 months old at the time of the pic!

Wow, that is NOT the modern Texas “interpretation of a Hereford” I was referring to, lol

I think you’ve given yourself away as a dirty cattle rustler though... you must have snuck up this way and swiped some good ozark Herefords when we still had them 😉

nah, we talk a lot about Texas “ruining” cattle here because of all the Texas research farm AI influence from the last few decades. I guess it’s mostly just a move toward efficiency, but the breed confirmations seems to have changed so drastically that they don’t look like the same thing compared to before all that.

I think where a lot of arguments start on here relating to chickens health just comes down to personal experiences. The problems start when someone starts stating how DE treats worms or mites for example when in reality the person hasn’t had chickens over a year and assumes it works cause they haven’t seen any issues. They go on a posting campaign preaching the gospel everywhere they can.
Then we have the people with 5 chickens that have probably never dealt with half the issues they’re responding to which further muddies the water. You’d think someone was paying these people to be first to *help*.
