I don't know why you guys are laughing, Me Maw always told me that laughing was a waste of time and just showed everyone how weak you were. She was very serious about her chickens, she didn't care too much about how much they weighed, but if they weren't as tall as the corn cob shed she would have to cull them. The only problem with those Big Reds was you always had to keep an eye out for them, unfortunately they managed to gobble up a few of the young 'uns and a dog or two.

Well, Me Maw always said it was their own fault if they got et, they should have been paying attention. One of them got ahold of Johnny when he was little, but luckily he had his pocket knife with him and was able to cut his way out of the crop. Me Maw wasn't too happy about it when she saw what Johnny had done to her best rooster, but she got it all stitched up and that rooster lived another 72 years after that!
