update day 24-not good news

I got another pip! It is the size of a dime and has also broken the membrane. We will see.

We had nine hatch of our own birds, and 1 of shipped eggs(it was a throw in as I didn't order this breed), Now. bad news, is 2 of my eggs didn't make it, the baby zipped and didn't ge out

the other egg only pipped down on the side, he was dead. So I have lost 2 and for the rest of the eggs?? I bet they don't hatch.
I will check fertiliy on these as they were shipped eggs.

Update not great. The chick that I saw breathing yesterday is dead. So depressing and I feel really bad. I opened the egg to look at it carefully. It was a beautiful perfectly formed white americauna. It was very feminine looking, maybe I should have intervened. I put it in the incubator thinking it might be alive but it's definitely dead. The pip on the other egg is slightly bigger but still no progress no peeping. I'm really disappointed, I thought I did everything right. I candled a few other eggs after the chick dying and they have some movement.
How long should I wait on this egg to hatch before I give up on it. At 12 noon today it will be 24 hours.

Oh man, that's really sad. That's what I hate about hatching. You just don't know what's gong to happen, and it's not always very good.

Gees, I wish I had some advice but I'm not sure what I'd do either. I think I'd wait about 12-15 hours, so noon or later, but I'd be nervous, I know me. Try and listen to your inner voice. Sometimes we just 'know' what to do. I'm praying for a good outcome.

If it was me I would pip the air cells and see if you can see movement or hear them. That way at least they are getting air. Was the yolk on the little chick fully absorbed? Good Luck and I hope the rest make it.

Thanks ebony. I don't plan on giving up though. I still have some marans in another bator that are due on thursday.

I hope things look up equine. I will be praying for you maran eggs. Never give up. I almost gave up on the ducks. I am getting more duck eggs this week. Hope this next batch will be much better

No the yolk was not full absorbed but is now. Okay I will go candle and see what is going on.
