Update: Duckling pictures Edit: All dead :(. Help! My ducklings are all dying!

If you got them from Metzers- you need to call them asap. They have a replacement policy and can also give you advice. I wonder how warm the brooder is, can they get away from the heat (is there a 'cool' side)?

Where did you get the ducks? you say they were shipped? a hatchery, perhaps? have you contacted them. I haven't heard of the sugar either, i don't see a need for the marbles either that waterer is fine.

What feed? i'm sorry i think you said but i am not sure what you mean. Do you have a temp for what the brooder is? When they arrived did you show them where the water was? did they drink.

I'm trying to rack my brain here, i honestly have not experienced this and i have raised a few ducks myself and had mama ducks do some for us too. I actually have four 2wk old right now, they simply have their mama, a heat lamp, flock raiser and water... a big 3 GAL waterer for her and the 4 babes. That is all i have done. I actually do the same when i raise them.

I'm sorry for loses. I hope you can get to the root of the issue.

For the sake of curiosity, what is your brooder bulb? it's not a teflon one by any chance?? I am likely reaching here but it has been an issue brought up a few times.

Are you dipping their beaks in water and making sure they are drinking. Some birds arrive incredibly stressed and need a lot of help at the start. The marbles aren't needed and might impede their ability to get adequate sips of water.

95 under the lamp, on one side of the brooder so there is plenty of cooler area.

got them from Metzer, yes we contacted them, they said maybe stress from the trip, but aren't they always shipped??

yes, dipped their beaks at first and they were all drinking fine.

We didn't have marbles in, we put them in on suggestion of the farm when we called them about the deaths.

checked the bulb, don't see anything about Teflon. It's a red bulb?

they have flock raiser feed.

hope this last little lady makes it through the night...

Did Metzers offer to send replacements? They have a 24 hour policy. I'm sorry all this is happening. I got goslings from them last year and almost lost one of them. I gave her a shallow warm bath, warm blow dry when done and electrolytes in her water and she pulled through. She was doing very badly. She did not handle the stress well. The gander was a little hardier.

This is weird. I'd take the one duckling you have left out of there. Give it fresh water in a small glass bowl. Don't feed any more of what you were feeding. It seems like there must be something that they are eating/breathing/drinking that is killing them. Or maybe they were exposed to something during shipping...?

How sad. Sorry you're going through this.
