I have to admit it's a little disappointing to find out you didn't steal luggage straps from the conveyor belt at the airport. That made the whole setup a little more exciting. Oh, well, guess I'll go to boring old Lowe's.
I'm done with chickens for this year but I think i will build one and try it on the ducks. Anyone think that will be a problem? Anything is better then doing it by hand. Plus cheap is good.
I built mine today...and ended up plucking by hand
You were right - the cordless wasn't powerful enough but the other problem I had was that the bolt kept coming loose. I think I bought the wrong kind and it didn't sit flush with the inside of the cap. When I ran the drill in the forward position, the nut spun loose so I tried it in reverse and that's when I realized that the bolt wasn't flush because it was spinning but the plucker wasn't. I'm not giving up because I know it will work so I'll be going back to the store for a different type of bolt. I'll also buy a drill with a cord while I'm there LOL.
I have to say that it was easy to put together. I didn't glue the cap on; I drilled holes and used small screws/bolts. The hardest part was getting the straps in. Had to use a screwdriver and wedge them in there and pull from the other side with pliers. The good part is that they're not going anywhere!!

Good start! keep it up and youl get teh bugs worked out. The secret to teh bolt going through is you REALLY gotta tighten up the nut that goes on teh outside. REally crank that nut down and it wont spin on you. And yes, the hardest part is getting the rubber strips into the tube, but that isnt too hard either. and youll be amazed at the difference in the corded drill.
Keep me posted, im excited to hear how it goes.
I found that using a carriage bolt the same size of the hole will hold tight when tightened down, the square part next to the head will lock in and hold, maybe using a small lock washer under the nut will help?
