How many births did you go natural?

All 3 were c-sections . Like I said I can not and did not dialate .

Sorry, for a minute I thought you knew what you were talking about and prefered a c-section over a natural birth.

What exactly does that mean ? I seen both my daughter's deliveries .... 1st. stayed in labor for 3 days ....
Plus numberous friend's and relatives in labor . Seen one breach and was almost delivered by me in my car . Alo another that cord was wrapped twice . I even seen a set of twins born when mother was only 7 months pregnant . and YES , I DO PREFER that I ended up having c-sections . TYVM

I have 4 children...all delivered naturally. 9lbs 11oz, 9lbs 9.5osz, 7lbs 10ozs and 8lbs 12ozs (23inches long!)

Things that stand out...#2...they actually let me reach down and pull the baby out myself. That was incredible...very surreal. Babies 3 & 4 were supposed to be inductions but I went into labor on my own (the day of) each time. Baby #3 tied a knot in her umbilical cord and they asked if they could keep it to study...??

Things I'd recommend....get the epidural! It goes against everything else I aim for when parenting (I'm more into natural parenting etc) But with my last 2 children I had epidurals and though they didn't work perfectly, they took the edge off the pain. I was able to be part of the birth and actually remember it. The others are a bit fuzzy from the pain.

I could go in detail with each birth...but don't want to monopolize your thread!

I wish you a swift, painfree delivery...with a healthy, bouncing baby boy at the end!

For the record. I HAD to have a scheduled c sect. I had a soft ball sized fibroid that was sitting right where she was supposed to make her exit.
My obg spoke with the head of the dept. Looked over all the u/s And I had MANY! and they decided the safest thing for both the baby and me was a c sect.

I never experienced labor and she was tucked in there nice and tight.
I am still 100% positive that she would have been late by at least 2 weeks.

C sect are sometimes medically necessary and I dont regret having one and never experiencing labor one bit.

That said. My ob also told me to not bother with a "birthing plan" since babies make things up as they go along. Kinda like whatever higher power you might believe in. Wanna make em laugh... write a plan down in ink.

Has anyone else seen that documentary by Ricki Lake? It goes into home birthing/c-sections etc. Very interesting stuff! I'll see if I can find a link somewhere....

Edit to add...It's called The Business of Being Born...and it looks like she's selling it as a DVD now...

coffeemama- I think that's the trailor or advertisement...it was a long documentary and actually showed Ricki Lake giving birth etc. I watched it the first time on recommendation from someone else...kind of against my will, I'm not into tabloid stuff or celebrity fads....anyhow, it was truly phenomenal.

For those of you who are pregnant, I would like to let you know that these things are natural occurrences. I was in labor for 3 days and had a backwards baby and birthed her just fine with no interventions. My midwife friend has delivered dozens of breech babies-one was 13+ lbs. Cords are often wrapped around the baby-you just unwrap it in most cases.

Just wanted to take out the panic factor here

In my opinion, the most important thing is not a birth plan, but is being educated. It's called informed choice, and many birth providers could take a lesson in it!

How are the laboring mamas? Check in time!
