Hmmm, you might be having BCs and just not realize what they are. They're not typically painful... kind of feel like a strong hug around the belly. Sometimes it feels like it pushes blood into your head. Feeling anything like that?? I don't know why the OB would say you're lucky for not having any... it's your uterus's way of exercising and getting ready for labor. Sounds like your OB is a typical man!

edited to add... I think I remember reading that it is more common for 2nd time moms (or more) to have/feel BCs... probably because we know what labor feels like and are really tuned in to any and all uterus activity.

I think he meant I was more lucky that I wasnt feeling them, sorry my bad !! My body is doing somthing in there for me to be 3cm so i'm sure i am having some.... hmmmm yes I think I know the blood rushing to your head feeling (i feel this in my back and then the blood rush) I always thought it was the baby kicking me in the back??

LOL, about my OB being a typical man..... If you ever met him you would have to ask if he was gay (dont know if we can use the word on here, sorry) If he didnt have 5 kids I would swear he was..... BUT.... HE'S SO AWESOME !!!

Liz, I'm not OB, or even an L&D nurse, but to me it sounds like you may have had placenta previa which would better explain the bad bleeding during your labor. I don't see how breaking your tailbone would cause your cervix to not dilate.

I'm wondering if the placenta was completely covering your cervix. What year was your DD born?

Yes , had a friend do that for several hours . Had a dr. apointment at 9:00 and he sent her straight to the hospital ...

NO PAIN at all ... Just the feeling like stomach was BLOWING UP AND HARD LIKE ROCK .....

she delivered 1 hour and 15 minutes later

............I have sort of gotten lost in all the posts.... but: your body was made to do this..........trust YOUR instincts. If something doesn't seem right check it out! (still tuning in................)

She was born in 1968 .... Bones just did not open .. She was pushing to come out , and could not open . It was horrible . Dr. could feel the head from examination . Dr. actually said I went thru more pain than an actual delivery .
NOW you mentioned a placenta previe .. I had that for my 2nd. pregnacy . I was in bed for 4 months . Everytime I hit the floor , the blood would trail me . I always carried a very low line placenta
