I was 28 when I had Steven and had never changed a diaper in my life. This young black man came in my room carrying my son and said "Ok, where's the white girl never changed a nappy??" I looked at him very oddly because I was the only one in the room!! He was my saviour, he was the eldest of 11 kids and doing what he loved to do, taking care of babies. We were army, the guy was an E-4, and if not for him I would have known NOTHING about taking care of a baby, he was so patient with me. I'd delivered calves, foals, puppies, you name it, bottle fed them etc, but I had never in my life even fed or changed a human baby. We all do fine for some reason.
