better do something before she gets to weak to even nurse...you can do it!...try to get some milk out of her teats.....do you know how to milk a goat?...i dont...but someone here may know...

Pinch the top of the teat and roll your fingers down! You do really need to get the baby nursing you could just lift her mouth to the teat.

At this point you need to have that kid nursing. You need to 'milk' the doe's teat to get the milk flowing (there's a kinda plug that needs to be expelled from the end of her teats -- that normally just happens but sometimes it needs a little help from a person) and then hold the kid to her teat just to show her/him where it is.

Many people have lost kids due to cold, it's critical that you get that baby and momma someplace warm and/or use a heat lamp where they are. They need to be in a completely draft free place. A good solution, if you have it, is to use the top or bottom or a dog airline crate and put some straw in it, or a heavy blanket with a heat lamp over it for the kid to get in and curl up in. But still have that in an enclosed, dry, warm place.

Use iodine to dip the end of the umbilical cord in to protect from infection.

Spend some time on http://fiascofarm.com/ and another great site is: http://thegoatspot.net/phpbb/index.php

Good
luck, get that baby warm and eating.

We got the milk flowing and momma is offering the teat to the kid. The kid had it for a second and then let go, but is staying in place. I am working on a heated spot to put them in for the next two days. I will do Momma's grazing for her and keep her well fed. She now has sweet feed, goat feed and a whole bale of hay for herself. Gotta go work on the heat! Thanks all!

The kid might be having a hard time regulating body heat. Put your finger inside of it's mouth and if it feels cold then you need to take it inside to bring it's body temp up.
Last year a doe of mine had twins. The doeling was fine, but the buckling had a cold mouth. I brought him into the house for 3 days. Once his body temp regulated I fed him milk that I milked from the doe. It took a couple of hours of being inside the house for his temp to rise.
The second day I put a goat sweater on him and took him out to the doe to let him nurse. Bringing him back into the house each time after he nursed.
By the third day it started warming up outside so I blanketed him and left him with his mom and sis in a draft free pen with a heat lamp. He was fine after that.
If his mouth is cold don't force milk on him until he warms up.
I hope everything works out for the little one!

I wanted to say that these goats are sure lucky to have such a great goat mom in you!
