Update on Impacted Crop Surgery

I thought I would give you all an update on Oz, my BA that had to have crop surgery after eating an old cigarette filter that she found buried in the dirt.

We removed the sutures yesterday and she seems to be doing quite well back with her George and the other girls.

Please if anyone has this incident occur I would be happy to help you through it.

I have a hen on Day 7 of an impaction, and we're making progress, finally.
I was watchng your thread and researching and getting help. I'm only too aware of how far along it can get and that deciding on surgery before they get weak is vital!

how did you get the surgery done?
I have done lots of them as we raised pouter pigeons and they get lots of impactations

I have a 5 month old silkie which is my #1 baby out of 30 chickens and she has an impacted crop...i just tried flushing it with baking soda and warm water and massaging it but nothing came up...i also gave her some olive oil in a syringe..i am going to go buy some apple cider vinegar now and only feed her tomatos, yogurt, strawberries, etc..i also put her in a cage by herself...I JUST DONT WANT HER TO DIE! SO, please any help or advice you could give me I WOULD SOOOOO Appreciate! I am not opposed to doing the surgery (but would have to look up how) . I will do whatever is needed but I want to leave surgery as a last resort. I have some xylocaine I got from the dentist so if I had to I could inject the surgery site to numb it..... thank you so much!
