Update on the sizzle chick.

Sorry for the delay. I had to go grocery shopping and to visit Miss_Jayne. I just checked them, and still only 1 pipped, 1 wobbling, and still not seeing anything from the other 2. The one who has pipped is moving around in the egg, and responds when I talk to him. I can see his little beak, but he's just not in any hurry I guess! Not sure why this is taking so long. I have a still air hatcher, and temps have remained steady between 100-101, humidity ranging between 62-65%. But progress is progress, no matter how slow, right?

Ok, I'm starting to get pretty worried. The pipped chick still isn't out, and really hasn't pipped any more since 4am this morning. The chick is still moving and peeping, but just not breaking out. At what point should I intervene and help? The second egg that was wobbling around all over at 4am hasn't moved all day, and still no pip. The 3rd & 4th eggs are still showing no signs of anything. I've read the horror stories of people trying to help the chicks out too soon...and I just don't want to be one of them. I'm trying to be patient, and wait as long as possible, but I'm not sure how long I SHOULD be patient. Thanks to everyone who's keeping track of this thread. Please give me any advice you can, if nothing more than to calm my nerves a little. I just don't understand what the problem is, since honestly my incubator and hatcher stats have been very consistent and within range. Help!

I have had them take WELL over 24 hours from pip to hatch. I say hands off the bator! You will feel 10X worse if you decide to help it and end up killing it(been there, done that)

Thanks klf...I needed that kick! lol Whenever I talk into the bator, the chick just starts moving inside the egg like crazy! It will also peep at me, and I can see it's little beak through the tiny pip hole. I guess maybe I'm more concerned (in my mind) with the second egg that hasn't had any movement all day. I'm just going to sit up again tonight and monitor what happens, and pray for the best.

Make sure your humidity is up, you might raise it a bit more and don't do anything until tomorrow at the earliest. I had a hen sitting on eggs and one hatched on day 23 under a broody so they sometimes do take longer. The problem is when the pip does not progress the membrane can and usually does dry out making it almost impossible for them to turn around in the shell and free themselves. Waiting till morning should not be a problem and hopefully others will pip as well. You don't want to sacrifice the rest for the one. Early pips are often times a problem in my experience. Give it time. Hard to do I know.

I might sound crazy right now but ... what the hey... When I get a little impatient (and I know temps and humidity are good) I tap on the window some and whistle at the chicks! LOL

It seems to motivate them some because most of my babies hatch while I am doing this (usually for hours if its a boring day at home..yeah.. I have no life..) But, I showed my friend on this last hatch of mine how it works! She got to witness TWO babies hatch from pip to zip to out within 30 minutes!

So, if you must resort to some craziness like me, GO FOR IT! lol

Now I feel like a dork!

You're just admitting publicly what most of us already do!
I've been doing that all afternoon, and it does definitely get a response...lots of movement and peeps. But this chick just isn't zipping the shell AT ALL. It's not even trying.
Maybe it's just lazy?
