UPDATE!!!

Churkey hatched her first peep in the coop. Should we immediately bring it in the house and set up our brooder or should we leave it with our hen for a day or so???

We're total newbies at this, so please make your answers as simple as possible....Thanks!!!!

Our alpha hen and broody extraordinaire is sitting for day 18 on 4 EE eggs. This is our first live hatch and of course we have zero experience in this sort of thing and we're hoping that Churkey's instincts kick in.

My attempt of candling the eggs a week ago proved futile due mostly to my own inexperience and the fact that I didn't really want to handle the eggs.

I've been following the general advice given on BYC to this point, and I'm pretty excited to have baby chicks...

Any suggestions of what to look for from those with experience are kindly appreciated...

From all the posts, I'm expecting a hatch at 21 days (Thursday)...
