Update page 4, hamster pics. WHO KNEW!!!

Oh man, I wish we were closer. Out of the blue this weekend, DH promised my daughter that we could get another hamster! Ack!

Somehow he has an easy time promising pets when he knows it won't be his job to clean the tank...

You aren't driving through PA at any point in the near future are you?

Oh I wish I was!!!!!! These guys are sooooo cute!!! Yeah, it is so easy to have pets around when you don't have to be the one to take care of them. MEN!!!!! Fortunately, I enjoy my boys animals as much as they do.

The only one I have ever had a problem with is my middle son's scorpion but it only took him a week or so to grow on me.

he can keep his scorpion far far away from me...that's about the only thing except for centipedes that give me the heebie jeebies...

We had a gerbil that came in that, no lie, looked like a Border Collie, white muzzle and blaze, white sox and a flag...he was beautiful!

Alright, I MIGHT have liked that gerbil.

I am not sure why scorpions frighten me so much. I have always had pet tarantulas since I was young, love all creepy crawlies, am and absolute snake freak (even the venomous ones) but scorpions just seem really frightening!!! However, I have really grown to enjoy watching Scorpio (yeah, REAL original name LOL) as he actually seems to have a personality!!!!

I am still terrified one of the cats is going to knock his cage over one day then I am going to be on a chair screaming like a little girl!!!! LOL

Aww, my son has a sweet old gerbil, who is over 4 years old, named Luke. He has 1/2 of a tail (lost the other part when my neighbor's son decided to take him out of his cage BY HIS TAIL!

) and has always been very calm and sweet. He's handsome too, light gray w/ white belly. Sure is showing his age these days, all he does is sleep & eat.

Awwww........sounds like a precious little gerbil. I know a lot of people love theirs. It is one animal I have never had, too, which I am sure is part of it. I always had a hamster growing up. always named Pepper. When one Pepper died of old age I got a new one. My brother would have a matching one named Peanut.

If I grew up with gerbils I might not be fond of hamsters.

That could be it...they are a strange looking animal. And so HARD....nothing soft at all about a scopion. Died as in you squished it or died as in the poor tarantula couldn't handle biting you? I have never been bitten by one. I had one that was VERY agressive however. I just respected his personal space and we were alright. Couldn't handle him at all though.

Well, the kids have finally whined me into letting them in the pool. Summer is almost over and school starts Monday so I suppose I should. It really isn't my idea of hot enough but it won't kill them.

Again, I really want to thank everyone for their help on these obnoxious hammies.

And I love everyone's animal stories.

Died as in I poisoned him when he bit me...One fang went right into my thumbnail...
He was PO'd because the jerk who packed him in the little contained put him in upside down...and when I took him out, KaPow! I was a wreck...but when I found out he stuck his spoon in the wall, I felt bad.

There's only been on really nice Tarantula that I could hold and let walk on me...I sold her to a couple of guys and they are so happy with her that they'd give me updates on her.

I can't believe school starts so early...Yuck!

DS didn't get out until the 20th of June and he goes back the 3rd of Sept.

Poor little spider.

I have actually had so many that were nice I was shocked by my agressive one. I used to catch wild ones when I was young....every October or so we have hunderds, and I would hold all of them. My mother was never fond of my love of all things creepy.

It really doesn't seem like school should be starting back. I dread it. We have a LONG drive to school every day and the gas prices are going to just kill us. We get up between 5:30 and 6:00 (depends on how many times I hit snooze) and that is what the kids are dreading the most!!!

How could anyone suspect these guys would be so absolutely adorable!!! They are now eating hamster food and using the water bottle so I think it is time to re-home them. Here are a couple of pics.

This is my favorite. Not sure why, he just captured my heart. I may actually keep him for myself.

Pretty sure he is a boy because when they were still bald you could see that he has two little dots on his sides where the males have those funky scent gland things.

There are 4 that look almost identical to this one. They are just beautiful little things and all of them are so sweet!!!
