**UPDATED** 09/10/2010 PAGE 7 Brown Houdan Bantam PICS!

Sorry don't know what is wrong with my computer. I use scotch tape to tape the toes. Put one peice on bottom and get the three main toes spread out good, then put a peice of tape on top and make sure that it sticks to the bottom tape between the toes. Cut off the excess tape, so it is sort of triangular around the foot but leave enough on the outside edge so it still sticks. Sometimes they get the tape off anyway, but if you can get it to stay on for just a day or two, it usually does the trick.
I had thought it could be a silkie mix as well, after thinking about it some more. Does it have black skin?

I had a feeling it wouldn't have black skin anyway. I still say probably a Polish mix. Hope you get that foot fixed, the sooner the better, because if you wait too long, you won't be able to fix it.

Was this guy raises Silver spangled Hamburgs Bantams? Did he list on Ebay?

I do not think it would be Jim LaGendre because he is pretty honest but if it is the other guy, I would stay away from him. I bought some eggs off from him a few years back and got NOTHING from the hatch, dirty eggs, etc. I would never deal with him again. And the information I got with other folks, it was flim flam back and forth and sometimes you do not hear from him for a good while.

Something tells me it is a throwback or one of the Wyn got into the pen and had a one night stand with the girls.

It's possible. Really big vaulted skull though makes me think it wasn't a cross with anything that wasn't Polish. Like I said, houdan do not have that kind of vaulted skull and to get it from a cross between a houdan and an uncrested bird, I think would be nearly impossible. I think it is more likely that the breeder bred to Polish a few generations ago, probably to get larger crests or something and this is just a throwback from that cross. The fact that the breeder has had others that look like this make me think it is something in their line. I sure have never hatched a chick that looks like that from my houdan.

Yeah, I'm not sure. I banded it's toes this morning and it's slightly spraddled...so I have to deal with that, too...it's only like 1/3 the size of the others. So how knows? I know if UC-Davis has bantam houdan DNA on file somewhere? LOL I could get it DNA tested....

I spent over $60 on these hatching eggs and I'm kind of ticked to get one that doesn't look purebred...I'm going for preservation breeds I can show and breed true to type. Sighs. I've got a lady interested in it as a "pet" already....so that's probably where it will go once it's a little more mature and straightened out.
