Hi everyone, I have a 7 day old chick that I picked up last Wednesday with 27 other chicks. I noticed there was something weird on her backside compared to the other chicks. I thought maybe it was pasty butt so I rinsed her off, dried her and put her back with the other chicks.
Checked on her the next day and it didn't look any better. It did look like she was drinking, just not sure about eating. When I picked her up some liquid did come out of her beak. Not sure if the other chicks were pecking at her so I decided to isolate her in case she has something contagious.
This is our first time with chicks so I have no idea what this is. Took a couple of pictures today to show you in the hopes that someone can tell me what it is. It looks like her feathers are gone and there is a little something protruding out.
She is also very vocal, lol. I hear her chirping loudly. Should I keep her isolated or can I place her back with the others?
TIA!

Here are some pictures from today. Doesn't look any better. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong with it? Not sure if is a leghorn or one of the meat birds. But it is small so I'm thinking it's a leghorn. This morning it was laying on its side and I did soak her butt again in warm water. She is standing but she seems to be staying under the heat plate most of the time. I still have her isolated from the others.

Looks like she has Omphalitis. As she is already one week old, from what I read online, there is no point in treating her since it probably won't work. We will be culling her shortly.

So sorry, I think you may be correct. The pictures are not clear enough to tell for sure, but it appears the vent is above that area and looks normal.
