Hi,
I just jumped in on this topic and I am having the same trouble with my silver penciled wyandottes. Mine are one week old. I am sending a pic.
Do these look like silver penciled chicks to you?
A friend of mine who used to work in a hatchery told me that the chicks that get the wing feathers first are pullets and the rest are roos. Anyone else hear that?
If it is true then I have one roo, almost no wing feathers and two pullets. The little ones in the pix are bantams.

The one on the left is the one I think is a roo because is has almost no wing feather growth. The one in the middle and the one on the right are colored pretty much the same and have the same pattern on the wings.

The chick on the left is the same one that is on the left in the photo above this one.

They look silver penciled to me...What hatchery are they from? Im not the one to ask about the sexing part, but i will give my opinion. wing/feather sexing only works on day olds and it has been my understanding that the roos feather out quicker?

I don't know about feathering on Wyandottes but I can tell you that with our other flock of random chicks the ameraucana roo feathered out way ahead of any of the hens.
