Help? What do i do now that Mom has laid another egg? Will she continue to feed Pinkie if she lays a second egg and starts setting? This picture shows Mom at the top then Pinkie at the bottom. She has gotten so big in just one day, almost the size of her Mom.

Yes, Pinky is still #1 priority.
I would put the egg in nest bowl; with pine needles shavings or even paper towel; Give her about 5 minutes to see if she will except the nest bowl (it is a bit risky); If not just leave well enough alone; Get ready for the second egg to appear in 24 to 48 hrs.

Pigeons usually like two nesting spots if you could partition off your cage to keep Pinky out of nest #2 area (I think doves are the same)???

That's soo nice... cool... you should start exercising him outside with you he'll be a great pet... I told you eggs are on the way... mmm and bo nest area yet... try putting a pile of straw and carefully put the egg on them before they lay another one so they adjust quickly.... congratzzz.... loking fot much more...

Ah yes, Majd, i recall you saying eggs are on the way. i created a nest with soft straw on the bottom of the cage, so Pinkie can still be next to her mom. Work on the aviary slowed again after i tripped over a hose and fell in the yard. i was chasing our goat, Billy, who had nabbed a bunch of cable ties and was trying to eat them. i'm a bruised and sore mess right now.

Anyhow, here is a picture from this morning of Pinkie in front, Dad behind her left, and Mom sitting on an egg.

doves are like pigeons they need a nest with nesting matrial i use dog bowl from the dollar store they can not turn them over and can be cleaned easy carpet padding for the inside and little shaveings babies in the nest need something to grip so they do not get splayed legs feed need to be in a covered bowl or the feed will get dirty from the birds walking and soiling the baby will watch dad and mom and learn to eat and drink the second nest needs to be where the young from the first clutch cannot get into it they can break eggs and soil the nest best way to keep this from happening build nest higher baby cannot get to feed is a matter of choice the gold and green pellets are a compelete feed with direcxtions when and what to feed made by purina and they do alot of research it cost more but you get what you pay for saying that i feed chicken laying pellets to pigeons and doves i do show my birds and do well the pros of pellets they eat all of what is fed to them and has vits. and min. added cons the poop is loose and seems like more and there is a little waste with some powder in the bottom of sack pros the bird have to eat what is fed cannot pick out one thing and eat it only when feeding young they seem to fill them with more feed and birds on grain will get fat and that is while condiction birds for shows i will feed grain plus grit mate a silky to normal feathered bird will get both silky and normal feathered birds that carry slky i warn you that silky birds need a little extra attention in a loft make sure they can fly to water and feed if off the ground and they will nest on the ground so watch care fully when putting in a loft i know this will be debated but if you raise doves it is better to have them in seperate pens one pair per pen doves seem to be dumb hens wanting to laying in one nest males fighting had six pair in a six foot by six foot loft not over crowded plenty nests the silkys where in a loft were they were off the ground four feet and feed and water was on the floor they seemed to behave better really liked them and they raised well just had to have the right loft every person is different just like the birds you will have to try and see what works for you idid raise about 30 young out of four pair but when it gets cold they quit
