Updates on the last pages: Neighbor is threatening me and my chickens

Pics
He gave my husband a card, not meaning much, but I don’t think my neighbor is that smart. I’m wondering if the ordinance guy will let 200ft slide. My husband is adamant that he won’t. My therapist said I should talk to my neighbors wife about all this. She’s more reasonable than he is sometimes.
Would you really want to depend on some drunken neighbour wife's good will for your chicken business and overall wellbeing?

If the 300 ft. ordinance is official and real, she has no say in the matter and the only thing you could do is quit the poultry keeping or move to a bigger lot with hopefully nicer neighbours.

Yeah. I was afraid of that.

If it was an official ordinance guy that came, I highly doubt they would let 200 ft fly. It's their job to enforce it. Now maybe if you were foot or two off that would be a different story but a hundred feet is significant.
This is probably not practical, but is there any way you could clear a path into the woods so you could see the coop from the house? It would be a shame to get rid of your chickens over this.

If he has the card he was given call the number. Ask for a copy of the ordinance really nicely.
This. And document every communication - date, name of the person you spoke with, what was discussed, every detail. Tell them you couldn’t find a copy online and would like one so you can be sure you’re compliant. If it truly is 300’ and you don’t have that, you may be out of luck, but hopefully you can drag it out for a while until you find a solution.
The more respectful you are, the better the chance of them being willing to work with you.

:hugs What a pickle. I like the idea of calling the number on the card and trying to get a copy of the ordinance. I do not like the idea of trying to talk to the neighbor or the neighbor's wife. It has now gone way beyond that, officials are involved. Talking to the neighbors could devolve into something very ugly very quickly. Don't go that route. Is my advice.
