Upset about missing duck.

Out of no where, these two ducks came and stayed in my backyard. Well not technically stayed but they came to visit every single day, they came together ALWAYS and suddenly out of the blue the one with the white neck and head stopped showing up. Its been 2 weeks and im hoping he will return with the other one. We think at least that the white one was the male and the female is the all black one. I am extremely sad and feel heartbroken for the lonely one, i have no idea what happened to the other duck. Now the black one comes and i really dont know if its just me but i feel it in my heart that she is heart broken. She hangs around by my window constantly looking and tapping at her reflection. I have no idea what to do as i have never had chickens or ducks. I have grown to love them and im so sad, that they are separated. Do ducks get lonely? Does she need a companion? I have no idea what to do. She wont even let me touch her and i want to pet her and let her know im her friend but she wont allow me. The other one was more friendly and he would let me just pet him. God i miss them together .
also what kind of ducks are they?

i think she’s a hen, muscovy can be wild (unlike domestic ducks), and it’s spring - she probably built a nest

They are Muscovy ducks. It is possible that someone has penned the drake up or that a predator has killed him. Sadly it happens with free ranging birds.

I have two wild Mallards that stay every year during spring. They'll be here soon too.

Muscovy ducks are wild here. They are EVERYWHERE. And I mean everywhere.

I see you are in Houston.

Maybe the other is sitting on a nest in your neighbor's backyard.

Im sorry but penned the drake up? Im not understanding. We do have cooper hawks in Houston but they are a bit smaller than the ducks, is that possible? Also do raccoons eat ducks?

Yes Cooper hawks and raccoons eat ducks, but muscovy are great fliers so they aren't as vulnerable to predators as other domestic ducks. They are also very broody ducks so the chances she is nesting somewhere are pretty good.
