Urgent - Duck attacked by hawk, wounded on head

It's an antibiotic ointment but if her eye isn't injured then it probably isn't necessary.

Is that all she eats is corn? I think I'd try giving her reg feed instead. She needs some good nutrients now and corn doesn't have a balance.

Is she opening her eye up now? I'd do the saline rinse and look real good at her eye to make sure it's okay.

Not necessary to put ACV in her bath just add some to her water bowl if she can dunk her head into it. You want her to keep her nares cleaned out.

I tried, but she isn't touching it. I put the corn in her water so that might be why she's at least eating it. The eye is still not open. The pupil is dilated really big... no visible scratches, I'll try a saline rinse...

I gave her deep bowl of water, but she can't make the action like sneezing that the ducks usually make when they are clearing their nares out. i'm going to put her in her kiddie pool, so I will let you know how that goes.

Alright so she didn't really want to be in the water, so after a bit I let her out and let her a little bit of group therapy with her friends... I've included a link to a video so you can see what I was saying about her not being able to move her head. All the other ducks are burying their heads in the ground while she is standing there. Also at the end she is trying to shake herself but is unable to move her neck.

Poor baby! I have dealt with very similar, but worse wound... unfortunately, mine had complications and passed a month after her wounds were inflicted...

One pupil dilated and one not is indicative of brain damage, I am sorry to say... equilibrium will be compromised considering where the wound is located... she is not going to want to lower her head... besides the fact that lowering her wounds below her heart will increase blood pressure and risk reopening to bleeding...

Get her isolated, inside and kept warm... shock alone can kill... set up food and water raised for her, so she can reach them without dropping head down...

Thanks for your response... is there any hope for her eye? And what do you mean by "equilibrium will be compromised"? Equilibrium of what?

Equilibrium, balance... your balance is affected by inner ear issues, yes? Same is with animals... the one wound looks very close, if not over, her ear area...

There's always hope... but even if she loses sight in one eye, she can adapt quite well... my worry is more about getting her through the shock and possible brain damages...
