Urgent - Duck attacked by hawk, wounded on head

I looked, but the wound wasn't on her ear at least on the side I looked at... hopefully it hasn't... it didn't look like she had any issues with balance. What you said about not lowering her head is true though. She doesn't seem to have much mobility with her neck in any direction, not sure if it is due to pain or just not being able to. I hope you were able to watch the video so you can see what I mean. she jumped out her box inside when she heard the drakes quacking outside, so I let her out for a bit. She seemed really glad to be with her buddies. She's inside now, she's drinking lots of water but not touching her food.

Yes, I saw the video... she isn't showing balance issues, but she isn't lowering her head either.... animals know more instinctively what not to do to cause more issues than we do... my point is, if she lowers her head, the world might start spinning on her and that may be why she isn't lowering it...

She will keep trying to go to her buddies, they definitely don't like to be alone... but she needs to be kept enclosed, warm and quiet for at least a couple days... maybe a docile buddy can be brought in with her?

She is kind of mated with one of our drakes but from experience I can say that if he (or anyone else) is brought in they'll be freaked out, trying to get out. :D She's acting like she's getting somewhat better, set her up in a box with some bedding on the bottom and she managed to touch her bill to the bottom of the box so a sign of improvement I'm hoping.

So today morning she is doing much better. She is touching her bill to the bottom of the box multiple times, shaking her head, and quacking quite characteristically (she squeaks) and loudly :D She ate the oats, corn, and peas in her water, and also seems like she's cleared out her nares. Still hasn't touched her food, butI am going to try to give her a mash so it's easier to swallow. I also think she can see somewhat from her hurt eye. Thank you so much for all your advice!

That’s great news! I thought about her several times last night. I’m glad she’s eating for you. How is the dilated pupil?

It's still half closed like before, but I think she can see out of it, at least motion. I didn't examine her yet but I'm going to put some more antibiotic on her wounds and then see what her eye looks like. I never got around to doing a saline wash, so maybe I can do that today
