Hi again,

Does anyone have advice for this little baby. Its siblings hatched yesterday and it is chirping and squirming a lot. We had an accident with it after the mother abandoned it.

the best you can do is leave it alone. if its a day late and having trouble then something is wrong with it and that's the reason its having trouble.

The accident we had was thinking the egg was rotten/dead since hen seemed to have abandoned it. Should have checked it with a light first to see inside before going to break the egg - was horrified to see a live wiggling full sized chick. Keeping it in a container with a light above and a sopping wet cloth covering the container. Membrane seems to have stuck/dried to the one part of the chick. Has begun chirping which we find encouraging.

How is the chick? Did it make it?

Sadly I don't really know what to do in this situation other than keeping the membrane moist and crossing my fingers.

So what we did was put a nest in an old ice cream container with a wet cloth over the top for humidity and a light about 3 ft. above the container. It seems to have worked really well. It was there for about 24 hours. Also another chick hatched today, that makes 6 which is the total amount of fertile eggs.:)
