URGENT: Wobbly Chick! Photos/Video Included UPDATE: losing ground

Ok I changed the bandages tonight and cleaned up the wounds on the legs. His left leg isn't looking good at all and is rather infected with pus etc. I cleaned it with warm salt water and put on an antiseptic/analgesic spray before straightening and wrapping with a band-aid and tape.

The right leg is looking MUCH better and seemed to be straight and working pretty well. I cleaned it and treated it the same as the left.

Once in the braces Phoenix (the name if it lives) was able to stand with some help

Poor little thing..

I'm about to make some eggs with vitamins even though he's eating and drinking well.

Here are pics of everything...

Please let me know if there is anything else I can do or try

You look to be doing great. Maybe some antibiotic ointment on the wound to help it heal. Just don't use the stuff with the pain reliever in it.

Keep us updated and give that little one big kisses from us. I just love babies

Sorry to steal your thread OP but I have a chick who was scooting around on her haunches. She looks like slight sply leg. I tapped her legs and layed her next to the food and water, She dunked her head in the water by accident and I had to mouth to beak. She can move and get aroung now but her hauches are red and chaped looking. Can I just rub poli-sporin on it and banage it like the rest or does she need a chick chair. (which I really want to invent a reusable one ) thanks

If I understand correctly, you have already resolved the splayed leg issue and only need to treat chaffing. If it is not open or bleeding I would put a little polysporin on without bandages. It should clear up pretty quickly.

Well this morning I took off the bandages and added some padding on the hocks. He is done being in the chair. It's more like torture to him now

so I put the padding on to prevent more hock damage and the little guy is trying to stand and walk!! I'm sure he's weak from a few days of treatment so I figure this is kind of do or die time... Literally. I put him back in the clear container with food and water and I guess we will see

On another note my other bird with the right splay leg is still not doing better are 2 days of treatment. She seems to get along ok on the one leg. Should I try treating it differently or just let it be?

I just checked thread & will type some ideas within an hour. I know ASAP info is important in these cases & will try to help.

I am glad the info on the webpage I have is being helpful! I try to post any new ideas I learn of for everyone to benefit from. Please PM me anytime with any you think could help. Thanks! I know that such info has SO helped me when I've been stressing over a little one's leg problem.

I made a new, hopefully better chick chair. His hocks are still so swollen but the chair I had him in was causing more harm than good as the little one kept wiggling out of it. He is such a persistent little guy

I have him in the chair and put some antibiotic ointment on the hocks. I suppose it's more important to clear up the infection and swelling THEN worry about the tendon/leg problem right?
