It sounds like one of her problems is anemia, brought on by what ever is aling her. Brest bone protrusion, light colored legs and face. Worms are often a cause of this or mites, I'd think worms. It's important to up her protien intake, cooked liver would be great for this.
Also start her on Poly vi sol w/iron. my Vet reccomended it when I had a problem. Keep her hydrated, most important. Keep food in her, scrambled eggs can be easy to force feed if you have too.Aithough she would need worming, i would try to get her more stable before doing so because it would just bring her down more. I have no suggestions for the swollen belly, possibly egg bound due to the anemia? Was she laying before? Hope someone else can give better advice on that. I would just start supportive care if she is not in pain,if she is, then putting her down may be in her best interest.

No, she has no feathers on part of her neck due to the small cage the scumbag who previously owned her kept her in
altho some have grown back.
she is eating and drinking alot, today appears to be walking a little better but still not right. im phoning the vet tomrroow as i feel this is my best option.
She doesnt appear to be in pain, make a little noise when bathing her last night. Im going to bath again and warm her up to see what happens tommorrow.
I don't have any good advice. I think the vet is probably the way to go. I do, however, have lots of sympathy. It really is a shame what people do to animals and when someone steps up and does the right thing, they have to deal with the heartache. Best of luck to you and yours.
I noticed you are new. I am sorry for the reason you came to BYC for advise. But glad you are here.
I read the thread and it certainly sounds like you are doing every thing you can for these poor birds. I am very glad that you got to remove them from the
varment that had been mistreating them. The world is a better place with people like you in it. I
you for the speical treatment for this very badly afflected hen. I am glad you are calling a vet for advise. There are many good folks on this forum whom have been advising you and they can speak from experence. I for one have not dealt with that type of situation with chickens.
I do work part time for the Humane Society here and dealt with abuse of dogs, goats, horses and rabbits but not chickens at least not yet..
Again I commend you for doing what you are for those poor birds.
You are the type of people that belong in BYC Thank you Karan
I'm really not a chicken expert, but the back of her neck looks really weird. Is it possible its a spinal deformity, and that would also cause all the other problems? Does she always carry her body in that vulture angle?
Was the cage extremely tiny that she was it? Not enough room for her to stand correctly?

the cages was tiny, the chickens could not even stand, this hen had managed to poke her head through a hole and got stuck, this is why she has no feathers on her neck, what apears to be a funny shape is actually her featheres sticking out, she hasnt always been this way, she was walking normally when i had her but has suddenly gone like this. shes had such a bad life being caged and it saddens me that now she has freedom shes become very ill.
and thanks to everyone for advice, i really appreaciate it.
I've rang around al lthe free vets, they are not interested in chickens, i even called the rspca and they dont want to know either :\\ i cant afford private vets.
WTF is wrong with people! its the rspca for crying out loud and they arnt interested because its a chicken.
