US Crele and White Sport Legbar Breeders - Alternative Legbar Group, for those not breeding to the P

I would like someone to takeover my White Legbar project. Anyone who is interested please send me a PM. I have a 20 month old Creme Legbar Rooster, and a 16 month old Creme Legbar Hen, both carrying the recessive white gene and their daughter a 10 month old White Legbar. I was hoping to carry on the project this Spring but don't have any room for raising more birds.

@ChicKat there is someone in Indiana who already has F2 or F3 White Legbars but they don't participate in any forums. Maybe someone can get a cockerel from them and cross with my white pullet to get to F2 with some more diverse genes than my trio.

bumping this up for @MeepBeep

oh! I see you are on it =)

Hi,,

I have actually read this thread.. Which is amazing.

I have been getting 1 white sport in about 25 chicks. I have 7 hens and 2 roosters.

I have my original pair ( I had trio and lost one) So my younger birds are all descended from my original pair. One of my originals must have the white recessive gene and one of the "kids" picked it up. I am not breeding to try and get more of them. I know they are not Proposed SOP but I like them!

I have split my original pair up in an attempt to get more. This is just a comment on my attempts. Here comes my real question.

I have Rees line, I read here someone said they did not think Rees line had the recessive white. I had never heard that before today, one of the people I sold some chicks to was questioning me on whether I had rees lines or not and Rees line not having the recessive white.

I am just wondering if anyone else with Rees has had any whites?.

Hi,

There may be a place for the white sports in a future SOP, so it's nice to know you have some stock now.

I also had a surprise white sport pullet which I can trace back a couple of generations, none of which are Rees line. I now have her in a breeding pen to test an unrelated male, who is half Rees line. So that won't really answer your question, but I do intend to keep some white sports in my flock.

While I understand the SOP's have a place, they are not for me, I like what I consider a good looking bird, and something not everyone has. I am hoping by the time I stop breeding this year to have 6-8 white sports.

i am currently breeding a group of unrelated white sports. Eggs are blue. waiting for the first chicks.

Thanks for the post/pics! Have you weighed your roosters? They look to be a good size.
So far I've only had white sport pullets which seem to run small compared to the rest of my CL.
Very interested to hear about your breeding experience.

X2,

Do you have pictures not through the wire too?

From what I can see the hens are more impressive than the roosters in White sports.

I finally hatched a white sport !
