USA Today

Wooo hoooo!! I have always loved chickens, I use to be a weirdo, bringing pictures of my chickens two work, giving them all names, hugging them.
Now so many are doing it!!

Two thoughts....

The article in the 'Offbeat' section.

And the statement that you just need to go to a farm for fresh eggs (which most folks in the city cannot do) and that the chickens would be 'running amok'.

I can't believe the stupid comments some of the people have made on the article. I posted a comment, but it doen't show yet. I hope everybody on the board posts a positive comment on USA Today.

The thing about newspapers is that (1) they have to report the facts, and (2) they have to be objective.

Also, providing a bit of controversy isn't a bad thing; conflict is one of the news values, which are determinants of what makes something newsworthy or not. Controversy gets people talking, and debate is a good thing in small and informed doses. Education can't happen if people aren't willing to engage and discuss something.

Close...they are SUPPOSED to report the facts and they are SUPPOSED to be objective. That seldom happens these days.

I've been waiting for this article to publish for the past month. Glad it finally came out.

Looks like we still have a lot of work to do in order to educate the general public.

Invite people to BYC and invite people to come check out your coops and chickens. Let them learn that they are great pets and not smelly or dirty animals.
