using extremely high temps to hatch only females

Anyone ever try the high PH on the hens? (lots of apple cider vinegar in the water) for pullets? I know a couple of horse breeding farms that will " guarantee a filly" by upping the ph of the mare's uterus at breeding. I've heard of people putting ACV in the water to do a similar thing to hens (would the gut tract actually work for upping the egg production tract???)

If you were going to try this, the biggest impact of temp would be in the first 5 days.

Please don’t. I think there’s a few studies on ACV affecting bird’s abilities to properly take in calcium.

ok I have a few questions, 1 are you using the broody hen hatch method? 2how many roosters do you have? 3 what brand of incubator do you use?

I use a broody hen when I have one. Usually not that often, but all small batches in my numbers 12 or less were hens. Obviously numbers in the 30's not a broody hen.
My incubator for the large hatches last year (I did two) were a Little Giant with a fan and egg turner- I borrowed from a friend. The hatch last month was from a home made incubator with fan and egg turner that my husband made for me. Got another one for Christmas, so now I will have two!

I have 14 in the fridge. I have only been turning them when I need to get to the extra lettuce and cucumbers and they are in the way. LOL.
I am not doing this to feed my family.... it is just for fun and I do have endless supply of beautiful eggs.

I have had just one exception to the rule: Many years ago, the most dominant of my Black Copper Marans hens generated during all her 7,5 years male offspring only.

Can I get one of those hens that only generates pullets?!

Yes, I have since I took care to have more relaxed hens. With my wonderful Kraienköppe I had mostly female chicks, last hatch was 2.14 = 2 male and 14 female.
