using human dishes to feed chickens--safe?

Because I don't cook unless it can be prepared in a crock pot or a microwave oven, I have repurposed several metal baking pans for treats. That was a real pain - because they get so icky so fast - until I bought a portable sink unit to set up in the back yard. Now I can wash them - in cold water, but with dish soap - out there. Mostly the ick is mud and dust and yes, some poop.

I also have a few plates which are those I use for the chickens and dogs and cats because they aren't the right size for much else.

But IF I cooked, I wouldn't have a problem using people plates for chickens, dogs or cats. Washing with soap and hot water - and maybe scrubbing on some stuck on stuff - would be sufficient to sanitize them for my use again.

I figure if I ate dirt as a child, if I pick up cookies and M&Ms from the floor according to the 5 second rule

then I can eat off washed dishes once used by my companion animals.

I have a whole cabinet of Tupperware just for chickens. I don't like them eating out of what I eat out of, so they have their own. I use large Tupperware containers as waterers, for yogurt or rolled oats snacks, etc. In fact, I brought a chicken in the garage today since it was so hot out (and she looked miserable), and used a Tupperware container. Works well for me!

sorry here, those of you that let your dogs lick the plates you use. That just grosses me out.
Please don't invite me over to eat off of your dishes your pet licks~after they have been licking their butts, outside eating rotting corpses and eating feces. I mean, can dishes REALLY be sanitized to get all the grossness off?

can't food just be scraped off of human use plates onto pet plates?
...just my take on it.

I ate my share of dirt and bugs as a kid and lived through it, but I'm kinda with you on this. I have plates for me and for my pets and am most comfortable keeping them separate, even though i care deeply for my pets. I kiss my chickens however

!! That one did take me a bit to get past before i could eat the eggs from my chickenss!!
I'm sure I've eaten off licked plates unkowingly and have lived through it. just my opinion on the dish thing is all.

My animals eat off my dishes too. I have even put chickens in my bathtub when they are sick or injured. Dishes go into D/W and bleach in the tub.

I used to be easily grossed out... then I had a child. I got pooed on... barfed on... peed on... boogered and slobbered on daily. So, I got over it and learned that pretty much anything can be cleaned up and sanitized... no biggie! In life you are bound to get a little dirty - most of the time while you are having a whole lot of fun.

I wash my cutting board, that I cut raw meat from the grocery store on, in the dishwasher with the dishes. I also wash bowls that I mixed raw hamburger in, for meat loaf or meatballs. People that use grocery store eggs wash bowls and implements with that raw egg on it in the dishwasher with their dishes. So, I don't worry about a little dog slobber going through the dishwasher. Or any other pet bowls or chicken bowls. For anything that's been outside, I do a quick pre-wash in the sink. It's good to get any gritty dirt off, so that doesn't get power sprayed against glasses, etc. That also gets off any other possibly questionable substance.

I've always had the water heater set fairly hot, for the dish washer. The dishwasher we have now can also preheat water to a higher temperature, heat dry and has a sanitizing setting. I don't need the preheat for the water and normally don't use the sanitizing setting, but it's there.
