Sucks that it got so damaged hopefully some how you will be compensated so you can get a new bator if not,I would use some Duct tape to put it back together then plug it in and see if it will mantain temp & humidity...if not look for a comprable sized styrafoam box/cooler and install all the incubator bits in the new box/cooler,poke a few holes and see how it goes...Good luck.

Actually if she is filing with Paypal she can't touch the incubator.... Cause she will most likely have to send it back for a refund......

Best bet, put a call thru to Paypal and get a supervisor and send them pics... Maybe you wont have to be out return shipping.

Search the ebay boards a few people seem to know the direct line to Paypal.

The local postmaster bascially told me there was nothing I could do, but she did give me a number to call. I'm just too mad to call right now. I may call tomorrow.

That is what they did after I complained, the person I talked to sent a form to me to fill out, I did, enclosed pictures of the crushed box and eggs, and all the markings on the box proclaiming it fragile, hatching eggs, etc, and they did reimburse me for the eggs and the postage. I proved gross negligence on the part of the USPS by delivering a crushed package marked fragile. Luckily my post lady also gave me a statement that it was delivered to our local PO in that condition. She actually took it to the school for me instead of leaving at my house for me to find after work.

If nothing else, i will complain as far up as the Postmaster General if I have to!!

I know it feels like the USPS is getting away with "Murder".... But keep in mind ups and fed ex offer insurance automatically with postage BUT often deny the claims as well.

They would have denied an insurance claim on insufficient packing as well.

Insurance would not have done any good in this case.

If it was packed with 2 inches of additional protection around the original box it *might* have survived the injury.

Those boxes you see in the store are for shipping by truck on a pallet stacked with only those boxes... They were NEVER meant to be sent thru the mail (USPS, FedEx or UPS) in just the Shelf box.

I have a great PO here and They will tell you to pack items like it will be used for a football...... Its mainly machinery doing the sorting.

I will say it should have been marked as damaged in transit......

as writer said, this is "gross negligence on the part of the USPS " in my view, despite the box. Frankly I don't care who takes the blame, I just want my money back or another bator!!!

If it turns out that you are SOL and stuck with it, don't duct tape it, LOL. Go to the store and buy two part epoxy 15 MINUTE (it does not get as hot as 5 minute), get the kind that mixes it in the tube for you. Align the parts before mixing the glue, once you know they will fit back together, take a couple of pieces of masking tape and have them ready to hold the parts together. Get a couple small pieces of stiff card board or paper (like the backing of the epoxy package) to use as a spreader. Squeeze out the epoxy and use ALOT of it, you only need to put it on one side of the part but both sides is better. Use the epoxy to fill in the areas where the parts don't fit together well. Put the parts back together and use the spreader to squeegee off the excess that oozes out. Use the tape to hold the parts together, and let it dry for an hour without touching it. Remove the tape slowly, its possible that the tape may stick to the epoxy, that is ok since you are not going for looks here. It would be nice if someone helped you, 4 hand are better than 2. Foam like this is easy to work with, no matter how bad you think the parts are, they CAN be glued back together. I used this method for a lot of projects including model airplanes. Epoxy is the BEST was to go with foam.
