Utah!

Cynthia, I'm cracking up at the hunting story!!

I can't wait to see your EE baby.

No pips yet. -sigh- I swear this is the toughest time.

Cynthia, hope its not a boy! Sphinx, hang in there! hattie, how are yours?

Speaking of crazy stories, this awful thing happened last night in my hometown.....a dog went in a canal, then starting struggling, the woman goes in after it, starts struggling, a man goes in next.....then another. Everybody got electrocuted, there was a live wire in the canal from an irrigation panel. the two men that went in, were friends....one (Keith) was a best friend to my son and his dad (my ex)..... the girl that went in first was engaged to Keith's son....and the other man (Lance) was my mom's best friend's son. Married with kids. Lots of funerals and viewings coming up. I was not super close really with any of them, but lots of my family is really sad right now over this. Most of my family from Blackfoot were close to at least one of the three people. What a sad accident huh? I guess we learn, do not go into water without being sure it is safe. The craziest, and most awful deaths are the ones that are so sudden and preventable like this :( All for the love of that dog, and trying to save him....tragic.

Not to leave sadness with this thread, but just a reminder how lucky we all are today that our loved ones are safe! I woke up feeling sorry for myself I thought I was catching a cold...wow nevermind to that. I will take a cold anyday and be glad I am alive to feel it coming on. I am thankful for the little things. And my chicken friends :)

Omigosh, Lisa, that is awful. I'm shocked that it didn't make the news. What a sad story.

I got my first pip! It's the darkest of the brown eggs, one that had been in the fridge. Of course it's pipped at the wrong end. My chicks love to do that to me.

Oh my goodness Lisa. You are so right. We have so much to be thankful for each and every day we wake up in the morning. I'm so sorry for your loss, even though you weren't close, I know you lady bug, it has affected you in a heartbreaking way. Happy you took something from it, and realized just how fragile life can be. You are such a good person.

K, here are pictures of my baby, and I put in three of the Birchen bantams with "her" for company. I think I may be wrong about the color..can't tell if that little stink is blue, or black. My son says black, but it isn't as black as the Birchens.

The upper left hand corner is her. I will say her until I know
different. :)

Her big nose. She was so calm. Fell asleep.

snoring now... :) A little further back shot, it doesn't look
as wide.

She's at the bottom, the three little bantams don't know
what to think of being put back in the bin.

One of the Birchen bantams to show the feathered feet.

Lisa, one of my BCW's has black pin feathers coming in on the head. It seems strange to see that, but there they are ..black.

Congrats, now the other kind of wait and see. :) At least when you get a pip, you feel a bit relieved that something is happening, and wondering if anything will..at least that is how it is for me.

Cynthia--you are so sweet

I cannot tell from the pics, is your new baby clean faced or poofy? Very sweet baby

Good luck with yours Wendy!

Looks to be cleaned faced, and now, I am thinking it looks more blue..just the dark blue, because I just went in to check on them, changed out the bedding, just took out the liner because the bantams poo more..so now they are on the shavings, anyway, looked down, and that baby looked blue next to them. I know it sounds strange I can't decide on what color it is, but it is dark, but it is a dark blue..I have decided!

Wendy, tried you cam..not up yet? Let us know when it is!

Wendy, this is my lavender's egg size. I am jealous yours has eggs big enough to try to hatch!
1000

teensy little eggs from a teensy little girl. My little japanese bantam laid eggs twice that size lol! She is such a sweetheart too, we have toyed with the idea of selling her but she is so darn cute and friendly. What to do, what to do.

Oh my gosh, Cynthia, cute, cute babies! I know we've seen the bantam birchens already, but I think they've gotten even cuter.

Lisa, that egg is frickin' adorable! :)

I went out to the coop this afternoon to check for Hedwig's egg...we're on day 2 for no eggs, hmm...but instead of finding a green Hedwig egg, I find TWO little tan eggs! They are very similar in shape and color, so I'm thinking probably one pullet, and I think it's Bullet my SLW. She was singing a very loud egg song yesterday and I thought that was it...but she was just teasing. :) My bantam cochin, Liz, should be laying any day now too, she's been squatting for almost 2 weeks. Goldie, the GLW, started squatting for me yesterday.

Auntie Hattie still has just the two pipped eggs, as of about an hour ago. She was beginning to believe one was in trouble, because it had stopped peeping. She got the shower going to up the humidity and go in to help the little chick out...and it was zipping. Yay!!!

Even if all she gets are the two little babies and there are none left for me, I'll be super happy for her.
