If it were me, I'd clean it out, just to be on the safe side. I'm glad she made things right for you.

Yes, I would clean it also. So glad that she made things right. I haven't met her, sounds like from the others and how she dealt with you she is an honest person, and makes things right..that's great!

Thanks. This is such a great site and I am grateful for all of the help. I will use a 50/50 mix of bleach and water on the wood and wire and rake the dirt/grass really good.

The two blacks are Pepper and Poppy (as in poppy seed), the Reds are Paprika and Cayenne, and Golds are Nutmeg and Zazzles. She was initially cinnamon, but as a chick she was twice as big as the others and was the escape artist, and my brother started calling her Zazzles. Yeah, went for a naming theme

I found where my RIR has been hiding eggs! Yeah, except there was only one egg there from today, haha. I heard her singing the egg song after I got out of the shower and went to look out the back door. My mom said, "Don't go out there in your towel!" I told her I wasn't going to, I was just looking. That's about all I'd need to cement my reputation as the crazy bird lady.........

Anyway, the RIR kept making noise until I was dressed and went outside to see what she'd done. It made me smile. Like she's out there going, "I laid an egg! ..............................HEY! I SAID I LAID AN EGG!! Lazy human!"
