Utah!

Close to what my cochin looked like.  She was a mean mama!  Or I would still have her.  Man, you are good at remembering names of our chickens!

WELL, she was a cute one :) Easy to remember her! I remember how she changed after brooding. Stinker.

Just ate cookies. Thanks alot Sphinx lol
Then a handful of M&M's for good measure....might as well blow it big time while I am at it! Tomorrow is a new day. No more cookie talk :)

I wanted to do something fun with my gandsons today. I looked up chickens on craigslist and found out something interesting. Here in Phoenix the feed stores carry chicks from oct to march. They just got a big shipment of chicks in so I took the boys to the local ace hardware feed store and looked at baby chicks. They had such a good time. It was really fun. kept my hand in the chickens as well. I told the boys when dad got their new house finished I would bring my incubator down and we would hatch some eggs. They are really excited. We had such a good time. Tomorrow is the birthday party should be fun.

Here are some more pictures of what I have. (Sorry if I duplicate some of the ones that Cynthia was so kind to post for me, it is really early in Utah!

Here is another picture of the lav AM pullet from this year. She does have pretty long legs but I am positive it is a girl. No crowing and her comb is not developed like a roo. She has not begun laying yet I don't think so I am not sure what size eggs she might lay. She is a good sized bird so I am thinking med/large egg.

Blue AM hen. She is at least a year old.

Light Brahma roo. This is the one I would suggest cooking. He just isn't trustworthy. He isn't bad out of the pen, but he acts like he is going to go at you in the pen.

Bourbon red tom. He is over a year old

GLW and black AM hens. The GLW is three and the black AM is one

Light Brahma hen (I have several of these) one year old

Bourbon red hen just a few months old

Lav AM rooster. He is well behaved and a year old. I have a black roo larger in size who was hiding last night when I was taking pics. He is also a year old

Two black spanish toms both hatched in May this year.

I had forgotten about this girl. Lav Orp hen, she is a year old

Dark Brahma hen. She is getting her new feathers in. She is also a year old.
If anyone is interested, let me know. Again, I will only part with the turkeys if you are planning on keeping them for breeding. The bourbon red tom is actually pretty stunning once all of his tail feathers are in and he is very well behaved.

ETA - All of the young EE roo's have found a new "home"

dqard, I'm sorry you have to part with your flock. I hope you can find great homes for them.

Sundance, glad you're having such a good time with your family this weekend. Interesting that they keep chicks in the stores all winter there.

Lisa, sorry that I blew your diet. Should I start talking about all the working out I'm doing to get ready for the Tough Mudder? It's in 15 days. There will be 12.1 miles and twenty-some odd obstacles. I'm thinking that if I survive it, I may do a half marathon at the end of the month. After Tough Mudder, running 1 mile more, with no obstacles, fire, ice water, or electricity sounds pretty easy.

I am going nowhere near Sundance's house until her chicks are gone.

Sphinx, thank you. I am sure once we are all settled into our new home (which may take a while) I will start over. I love having the chickens and turkeys too much to never have them again. I will be making sure we can have them wherever we settle to include roosters again. Just love the sound of their crowing.

my little faverolle is a blue..here is a picture of a blue faverolle They have feathered feet and 5 toes too..they are stronger in the winter months than the Silkies.
Oh my! I've never even seen a chicken that looks like that before! Reading everyone's posts on getting new chickens has been awesome. I can't wait till I'm at a point where I can add some more to my flock.
