OH.MY.GOODNESS. !!!!!!!!So I promised pictures of my incubator... here's one... it's not the best because I can't get far enough away from it on that side to get the whole thing in the picture, the wall is in the way.. It is 3 feet wide, about 32 inches deep and high... the trays are bread trays from the grocery store and hold 12 dozen each..(I have another 18 pack of turkey eggs on the floor because I had them...) It took me an hour to get them all in... I have Icelandics, Blue Wheaten Ameraucanas, Chocolate Ameraucanas, Various Orpingtons, my sex link projects, Marans, Naragansetts, Black Spanish and Penciled Palm turkeys... Here's hoping it works well and we'll have a lot of chicks for Easter!!
. Hope your hatching goes well. I started with a cheapo Bator, then got a Hova - which I LOVE. I incubate in the Hova with a turner, then transfer to the cheapo for the messy work of hatching. Then I can have staggered hatches progressing in one, and hatch in the other. A liner in the cheapo helps with clean up in between. Heh, and here I thought my Sportsman was dangerous! I had tons of bad dreams last night about little chicks hatching out like crazy and me desperately trying to find someplace to put them. I also couldn't figure out what to do with all the boys and I was sure there were so very many of them! People kept coming over to buy chicks and wanting only girls (of course) and I kept telling them I couldn't tell the difference. They'd look at me like I was an idiot and leave in disgust while I desperately tried to sort the boys from the girls. Really shouldn't have been that hard, considering half of what I'm hatching is cream Legbars. You guys are having a great time hatching chicks! The bug is contagious, but I'll have to resist for now. I'm temporarily moving to Wahweap, where Hubbie is now the assistant manager at the Utah State Fish Hatchery there. I've gotten a job offer and am moving stuff down, including chickens! It's a 6 hr drive. I'm thinking to put them in two big dog crates (14 per), cover with a blanket, and transport in an enclosed trailer. Please let me know if you have a better idea! I'm having a little surgery today, hope to check back here on Friday.

If you shortened the elastic on the apron would it still be too big? Is it the area between the wings that's too wide or just the elastics too long?
Ooooh - nervous about surg, nervous about move, nervous about traveling with chickens.. But excited!
