Utah!

First of all, thanks to bluejems! "Hedwig" who is now nick named "Beyonce" or "Queen B" came in and made a statement! Last night we let her see the roo and WL hen through the fence. She didn't hesitate telling the roo who was in charge. :) We waited til dark and put her up in the coop with them and two other new additions. In the morning, I went out around 7 and noticed they were running away from Queen B. When they would get close to her, she'd give them a good peck on their head, so they'd scurry off!

Later on in the day, when it got hot... establishing a pecking order was LAST on the list of things to do. Rather, they all just laid down in the dirt trying to cool down. Who would have thought that this hot weather could be a blessing to the gang!

Oh yeah! Queen B was kind enough to lay an egg today! :) I think she must have had one brewing. I'm not expecting another for a week or so, or until she starts feeling comfortable again.

Hope ya'll are surviving this heat wave!

Sorry, one more thing! Meeting up with Cindy again was so great! It turns out that our families know each other pretty well! My mom is her mom's hair dresser! Who would've thought! Such a great family! Thanks again, bluejems! :)

So, in other news, I may be downsizing my flock at some point in the future. As much as I love all of my girls, I want to get to where I'm keeping only Icelandics, or mostly Icelandics. I really want to focus on conserving them and getting my own line established. Just a forewarning for anyone on here that may want some of my birds, should they need to go. Desert already has dibs on my blue Ameraucana, though, since she has a breeding pen set up

I have no idea when I will start re-homing my girls, as I am just getting used to the idea right now. I will really miss having a rainbow basket of eggs. Not to mention all of the personalities.
Hi Red!!!

Thanks for thinking about me for your girl

. Actually, I think I should be okay for Ameraucanas (actually have them coming out my ears...lol. Was able to buy back my three blue girls that I sold to the neighbor. She was getting overwhelmed with chicks that they and my Blue Splash roo, that I sold her, were producing...lol). Not only did I get eggs from those, plus purchased many of her chicks AND also ordered some SQ Ebay eggs. I have blues, blacks, silver, splash, blue splash, whites, lavs, splash wheaten, wheaten, blue wheatens.... the only thing I'm missing is the buff (red) color. So think I'm okay...lol.

On another note.... I just finished chicken run #7...YAY!!!

Have four more to go...whew!! Today I took a break from the runs and strung 175 feet of no-climb horse fence on the other property. Have another 400 to go.... can you say tired!!!!!!

Eh, I've gone the Buff Brahma route again. Light Brahmas... So plain looking! LOL

Ngh, need to clean my room so I can order those chicks... Trying to decide which ones.

Who was it who had Legbars? They're on my chicken wishlist now... Getting longer all the time!

Are you going to be selling the extra?

Yes, if there are extra. I just went in to candle a few to see how the air sacs were looking. I will set them in the morning. Two had air bubbles float to the top.

I'm hoping, those are two of the 4 extra that she threw in, that were a bit older. After seeing that, I stopped picking them up. The air sacs on the other two that I looked at actually didn't look too bad. Up a little on the side, but not real far.

Received my Showgirl/silkie eggs today. Hope I get some showgirls. Hope I get some to hatch period!

She put in extras that were getting a bit older, but she says, just in case. I hope they are good. :)
Cynthia I have spent all summer trying to hatch these. lol out of 40 some odd eggs I got two to hatch and have kept them. I found that they do better with higher humidity? But you weren't lying when you said they were hard to hatch

let me know how they turn out.

Don't freak to much on the airsacks, The two i had hatch had the worst airsacks they were moving everywhere. But they hatched. I swear it was a miracle that they even hatched.
