Utah!

Not yet. I still cant get a good veiw of them in the little house, as soon as i open a door to look in mama (Momo) is right up in my face puffed up as big as she can get. Tomorrow i am cleaning chicken coops and rabbit pen and will be doing some moving around of the older chicks. I am kicking the older chicks out of the grow out run and moving them to the Silkie run. This will allow Momo to have access to the grow out run with her two RIR chicks and her adopted chicks ( the silkies i picked up from u). I will get a few pictures tomorrow.

Anyone need some fertilizer?
You just mentioned everything that I need to do, but not if it's doing what it did today! I'll have to wait until Mon. I need to do some switching around too.

Welcome, Erycka! I don't have any chicks of that age. I have a 10ish old week cockerel that I'll give you for FREEEEEEE, but he's getting pretty big, so it may not be a good fit. I'm glad to see someone in the northern part of the state. I live in Clinton.

I do have 4 FBCM, but they're only 2 weeks old, and their mama would be crushed if I took them away just yet. I know someone here was interested in them, but I can't remember who. I'm thinking I have 3 pullets and a cockerel; very good looking chicks.

However, saying all that, I know that a few chickens in my flock have worms (omg ew ew ew ew ew). The cayenne pepper and squash seeds did NOTHING for them. So, I bought that Rooster Booster dewormer that can be added to their food and is safe to eat the eggs during treatment. I don't want to rehome any of my birds until I know this worm thing is under control.

Cynthia, didn't you and I create the Winco Meeting Spot (TM)? I saw your flood pictures on facebook. That is CRAZY how much rain you got. It barely sprinkled here.

Yay AceMario on your new incubator!!!! And good luck on the upcoming baby. I have fertile eggs if you want to buy a few to go in your incubator, but they'd be barnyard mix. COOL mixes, as it'd be an olive egger or the like.

Red, I'm glad Betty is ok, and that you're able to smooth things over with the neighbor.

My hens are doing a terrible job of laying right now. Over the summer, I was getting around a dozen a day, but for the last week or so, it's been 4 a day. Ugh. There's definitely some molting going on, and I've heard that the worms can interfere with egg production, so I figure it's a combination of the two.

I had a bad night last night and this morning, Maude my head hen was missing. I could not find her anywhere. She is moulting and is almost bald so I was afraid she had gotten wet and was down some where, I looked and called her. She always comes but not this time.I checked in the coop before I went to bed. no Maude, I checked in the coop first thing this AM no Maude. I was heartsick. I looked and looked again. No Maude, Ed took me to pick up a couple of chicks for my broodies, They were black copper Marans. My broodies are so thin and I can;t break them, They have been sitting so long they have sores on their bellies. I am hoping the chicks work, When we got home I went and looked out side and what do you know, Its maude, She was on the back porch waiting for me so I could give her a treat. I was so happy to see her I gave her a whole handful of mealworms,

Oh! :) I would love that. There are just two things... 1) we can't keep the chicks... And 2) it's kind of a bad time of year to hatch... Right?

Ha ha ok here we go:

1) You can have all the eggs you want. I have a dozen ready to go.
2) You cannot bring me the chicks. Maybe even show me the chicks. You should very possibly hide the chicks....
3) I do not understand the question of it being a bad time of year to hatch chicks. This is Greek to me, the milao ellinika. ("I do not speak greek"). No way mister. Never heard of this concept. What ????

Hahahaha! You crack me up :) well... It looks like ill be waiting a few months! :) we don't have a very good winter set up... :(

Question: My original Chick (probably about 5 weeks old) is keeping one eye closed.

Now remember, I am totally new and naive to this.
This is the one we basically rescued from a horrible place.

Suggestions?
Everything is closed tomorrow, but I am also the person who would take this chick to the vet if I wasn't told from day one not to.
