Utah!

I still have those Turken Mixes. And I just had too…. One of our friends up in Salt Lake had someone in her ward hatch out 22 Serama/Silkie Chicks and they are only keeping 8 of them, so she was giving them away, of course they took 7 of them, and then found out they can't have chickens in their HOA, so guess who has 7 new babies. They are only 1 day older then my chicks. They are so dang cute, and some are so tiny.

So with that said, I now for sure will be re-homing some chicks. I just might have to see how some of those tiny Serama/Silkie mixes turn out though. And of course I was at IFA today get feed, and they had chicks, I had to calmly walk away. I so want a SLW or GLW and they had some. I just calmly walked away, at a high rate of speed.

WAIT WHAT!!!! I need to see some pictures. Can you imagine a Silkie the size of a Serama!!! You have to show some pictures. I think this might be good for a project Silkie.

You know what Gary, I just really noticed that they have really good feather growth, I bet they are at least 5 days old, so they are 3 or 4 day's older then mine, I bet she meant she got them on Sunday, but just about all of them are smaller then the Silkies that I hatched. They are tiny. Rooster is a Serama, and Hen was a Silkie, I do have one Frizzle, but she couldn't remember what she said on that one, she was going to check. Here is a few quick photos just for you. Just look at the size difference in them, the first one is with my Chocolate Colored Silkie that Hatched late Monday Night.

Gary I just looked and there is a thread called Silkied Serama, they look AWESOME! I might just have to keep one of this little tiny's. They are all pretty much white with black chipmunk stripes, only one isn't very striped. They have some nice looking barring coming in, I hope they silkie out, they all do have black skin, not sure on the toes, didn't look that good at them, its been a very long long day. But they all do have feathered legs/feet.

Hello! Just wanted to drop by and say hello to the my Utah people! I live in West Jordan, we have 4 hens right now and are getting more chicks in the spring! Yay!

Hi Tankgirl. I just had to say that I love your handle

Hope the ladies love their new coop.

I suppose I disappeared for a while. lD Hi again~

The reason I did is because I got rid of any of the birds that happened to have died... I'm ordering from Meyers today though. :]

I'm cutting off all breeding projects until I got my own place.

Hey Pancake. So sorry to hear about your chickens. What are you ordering? I have some babies chicks right now, and you would think that would be good enough, but I really want to get a GLW or SLW. I keep saying, next year, next year.

Hi Tankgirl! Guess what? Its spring! Time for some chicks! There is lots of new chicks on the page. Oh ya...do you have a rooster?

Hi! Nope I don't have a rooster and I really don't ever plan on getting one! :) I was going to wait until the Easter bunny came to get chicks (I thought the kids would like that) but I am finding it increasingly more difficult to resist getting them sooner!! Since the new coop is all finished except for paint and some trim work I now have my garden shed back, which is where I plan to keep the babies. We got all the construction materials outta there and now it's just ready and all I need to do it get a secure area set up in there for them!

I'm looking at Brahmas, Orpingtons, Delawares, Cornish, New Hampshires, Faverolles, and Cochins, one of each. I'm a bit frustrated though. How I do want a fabled 9-pound Brahma hen, but breeders are hard to come by unfortunately... lD And Meyer's Brahmas look a bit sketchy. Oh well, I'll give them a try.

A lot of their birds look good though, I must say.

I can't wait to see some more feathered friends around me, my coop has been empty for much too long! One thing's for sure, I don't think I'll be adding any more injured chickens to my flock. I learned my lesson there.

I will say this at least! I do prefer hatching my own chicks to ordering them, it seems there's no way they'll become as friendly as my two Brahma cockerels were. If I didn't have such an impossible time getting the roosters homes, I would do that again.

Gary is right. Right now I have some Bantam Silkie/cochin mix, or they could be pure. And, I just had a few LF Cochin hatch, not sure which one I am keeping. One looks like a splash, needs to be a girl..of course. Oh wait. Maybe a rooster collar would work. :p

Lisa, the one lonely chick is hatching from the batch that didn't do well, and she sent 4 more. It looks like it's either black, or a dark blue. Excited to see how it looks. All of the other 4 are viable. Now if they just don't quit! I want another white one. Or a splash. :)

Tell, I was wondering how those chicks were doing. Sounds like mama took them in? I know that blue one is so cute. My second favorite. I let you take that one because it was a strong one. It looks like a pure silkie.

Hi there Cynthia12! I currently have 4 hens, 3 Buff Orpingtons and 1 RIR. I LOVE the Buffs and I want to get about 6 or 7 more! I love their temperament. The kids just walk right up to them and can pet them or hold them. I love how well they do in the winter and the size of their eggs and pretty much everything about them LOL!

Cynthia that Silvery NN is sprouting tail feathers today at 3 days old and she has some nice colored feathers coming in on her wings. Did you still think you might want her/him? Let me know. Maybe we can make a trade. HeHe.
