Utah!

Oh dear red. That isn't a fun thing to have happen. :/ I'm surprised they didn't check out what was planned out first for that weekend. Sorry. It will work out though. :)

Oh Red, that totally sucks, I'm so sorry, but I'm sure it will work out even better now.

I just separated by welsummers how long after removing the other breeds of roosters do you feel comfortable collecting the eggs and knowing they are fertilized by the welsummer rooster? I have been waiting two weeks just wondering how long everyone else waits.

Red, that IS strssful! Glad you have a plan and a place to take the party.

All my chicks in lockdown made it! I do have the SBEL chicks from the Cream Crested Legbar Rooster over the Leghorn hens...there are 4 for sale, 2 black/blue barred and 2 white.

Kimmypie, are you still interested or do you have no room now? Anyone interested let me know, Kimmy has dibs but if she does not want them they are up for grabs. I am coming to SLC tonight to take my daughter to the airport, and I will be there again Friday.....and again Monday to pick my daughter up, so lots of rides available for these chicks or if anyone from Logan needs me to pick anything up in SLC and bring it back, the chicken train is ready and willing!

Last Fall I hatched eggs that were collected 2 weeks after I sold my rooster, so I know they were still fertile at the 2 week mark, but I have read on here 2 weeks is about how long most wait....I would not think too much longer? I was really surprised they still had the bullseye and hatched.

That make sense. I am just wondering if I need to wait that long. My welsummer hens have been with 3 welsummer roosters and a marans rooster. Once I removed the marans rooster do I still need to wait 2 weeks to make sure none of the chicks will be his. Or since the hens are currently being breed by the welsummer rooster does that decrease the time I need to wait to make sure I don't get any 1/2 marans.

No clue! :idunno Fun fact here for ya---remember the 9 chicks I got from you, hatched from Sphinx' eggs? Ok so I had 7 hatch, you had 9 hatch. All the same eggs from Sphinx. I got 1 female out of 7, and yours hatched 6 females out of 9! See how stupid the fates treat me with roosters??? HAHA! So glad I got the chicks from you, thank you for saving me. :highfive: Still have these rooster chicks if anybody wants them. They are getting big fast~! FBCM and Olive Eggers.

Silly, I hope it's a girl, too! That would be awesome for you.

Found out today that the rec hall in the church where my reception is going to be got refinished........without maintenance letting anyone know. And they won't let anyone on the floor until the 19th. Sooo thanks to a couple of very awesome people, my reception is going to be in a different building around the corner and down the street. I'll just have to put up a sign at the original building to let people know where we went. Sigh...........

Took four of my girls and my youngest rooster over to my neighbor tonight. They will be living with him from now on, and he was pretty excited to get them. He got my blue Ameraucana because he loves blue eggs.

my mothers favorite saying is when life gives you lemons make lemonaid. Sounds like you did.

How can anyone say this is ugly? I used to! I love them now with the muff and bow tie. This is my favorite so far. I have a similar colored one fluffing up. We will see..but this one has a smaller comb than the other one. :D

I would wait 3 weeks before starting to collect. this way at 4 weeks you can tell how good the new rooster is fertilizing the eggs.
