Utah!

Thank you for the Bantam Eggsbert! The kids are loving him. He is so small and friendly. They have already named him Darth Maul - the Bantam Menace.

Yay! Was hoping you had took him in sideWing.

My grandparents flew out from upstate NY to help me during fair week and my grandfather was a very busy man! My daughter talked him into building her a new chicken tractor for her bantams. He was able to get away with using mostly scraps we had left from building our coop extension earlier this summer.

Then he built this awesome tripod to hold my bucket nipple waterer. We had been using hooks hanging from the dog house that the previous tenants left but they broke from the weight. Then we tried plant shepherd hooks and they sort of worked. We just couldn't fill it up much or they bent to the ground. This tripod works fabulously

I also finally made pvc feeders that I bought supplies for months ago. Love these, too! Now my chickens are pretty low maintenance. We can feed and water from outside the coop and run which is great since the entire family will be back in school this fall. :)

And last but not least, here's my new babies from Lisa's Marans eggs. They just hatched yesterday. <3

IPick, wow! Looks great!
It seems to work, I got 5 eggs again this morning. Cautiously preparing to do the happy dance ;-):weee
Yaaaay :) I just took away three dozen ruined eggs from my broodies and put them in the slammer.

Cute! Yay :)
I I am very tempted! How desirable is this breed around here? The only reason I would breed them would be to sell fertilized eggs in the spring...? More of a venture than a hobby... Hm.... I've always wanted icelandics and even tried my look at hatching two years ago! I have an open 4 x 8 pen and coop, maybe I'll give it a go? Oh! Such a hard choice!
Right now they're pretty sought after because of an article that ran talking about how tough they are. Honestly, though, I think the popularity will die off within a year or two :/ Which is kind of okay with me. They're still a really rare reed and I don't think most people care about keeping their purity pure.

Our kids have wanted one for a long time.

I am REALLY hoping this barred rock is a pullet. My two other barred rocks turned out to be Roosters and couldn't keep them.

for you. Every time we buy EE pullets they end-up being strait run. Tired of rehoming and eating them and it's taking forever to get a descent amount of EE laying hens.

I bought 2 EE and 2 Brahma from the "pullet" bin this year, both EE's ended up pullets, I feel blessed since I now have a huge Brahma rooster standing in my run......
