I have been having a hard time getting eggs for the last two weeks. Only onr or two a day from 7 girls, old enought to lay. Very spuratic. Two days ago this is what I got. I was getting discouraged and disappointed. DH hung a hatchet on the wall of their pen last night. This is what I got this morning.

. perhaps it's coincidence. I'm leaving it there! LOL

Lol! I seem to recall that Lisa spoke of threatening her girls with a KFC bucket before....

bitsy, your baby is so cute. Where in the world did you find that shirt?? And who's big eyes did she get? Just darling.

I
Dangit :( I will be hunting this weeke

Well I think I'm about done with the Icelandic breed. Another of my hens has disappeared and if she doesn't show up in three weeks with chicks, I quit. I've had it. I had three good bloodlines accumulated before I got out here. Lost one hen and a bloodline last year. Now two more of my hens are gone with another bloodline. Can't get rid of the roosters and I only have two hens left. I have had it, I quit, I'm done. This is too much stress for me on top of everything else. If anyone wants an Icelandic breeding trio ..... $30. I will give you the best diversity in genetics I can. I would rather sell them to someone here than deal with KSL again. Please just PM me. I work in Murray and could transport them out there if you want to connect with me.

I am very tempted! How desirable is this breed around here? The only reason I would breed them would be to sell fertilized eggs in the spring...? More of a venture than a hobby... Hm.... I've always wanted icelandics and even tried my look at hatching two years ago! I have an open 4 x 8 pen and coop, maybe I'll give it a go? Oh! Such a hard choice!

I know it's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

Our tiny bantam roo has started to crow and he has to go. I'd obviously prefer he not be eaten, but he is a rooster and a mixed breed at that.
However, he is very small (pigeon sized maybe) and very friendly (we've handled him almost daily since he was two days old).

Thank you for the Bantam Eggsbert! The kids are loving him. He is so small and friendly. They have already named him Darth Maul - the Bantam Menace.
