Utah!

I'm in desparate need of blue bantam cochins for a christmas present for my 10 yr old son. Does anybody know of any breeders in northern utah? ?

Hi Ban!
I have not come across any Cochin breeders up this way at all on this thread.....Liz got a few cochins last year, not sure where she got them maybe she knows someone? If you are not on her FB chicken group I can send you an invite if you pm me your email. :D There might be a couple people in the Pocatello area...they are on that FB group.

Are you selling any of your leghorns? I need 1-2 if you are, or come across anybody :D I finally grew out my own Amer Roo so I can hatch some SBEL's this year, but I need a leghorn mommy or two.

RED---I AM SOOOOO SORRY to hear about your Icees. I know it is a labor of love, and it is so hard when you have to see a project go.
Giant E-Hugs. If I was closer I would bring cheese. Seriously! :hugs Just remember for every bad day, a good day is owed, you will get yours! Love going to you.

I have always said the only snow I like is snow that doesn't stick. We are not talking about this weather. Nope.

Thanks for the suggestions everyone! I would love some Buff Orpingtons, I would just hate to have to re-home a roo. We are hoping to get some chicks about February. The closest place to us with a large selection is the Ogden IFA. Does anyone have any experience with them?
I'd go with your sexlinks then. or barred rock... those are easily identifiable males and females, and I've heard they can be quite friendly.

Thanks Lisa, I think i found a trio from a lady on the fb group this morning. I actually have all my production chicks for next year already and have extra leghorns, BO, and Australorp (all pullets and maybe a few others) They are 2 weeks old. If that ashe is ok let me know if not i can brood them longer no problem.

For the last 3 years I've been working with pb wellsummers. I feel like the egg color is almost where I want it. This summer will see some hard core hatching of both dark ands splotchy eggs!

Also Lisa, one of the chicks I hatched from your eggs for the classroom went on to win a trophy at the fair! If you didn't know already, you have SQ stock!

Grey Bird, those are some great looking eggs. Just curious, what does the PB stand for? I am interested in Welsummers, have some hatchery quality ones and have considered getting a little better quality birds.

I got there...pure bred?

Yes sorry purebred. One of the things I love about the Welsummers is the eggs don't really lighten during the cycle and I get more eggs/week. This spring I'll be selectively hatching the very darkest and the very splotchiest.

I'm also super happy with the f1 olive eggers that I get from the welsummer hens and the blue ameraucana rooster. They are wet in this picture but the green is very olive.

You're selling me on them. What kind of production are you seeing on them? I have ready any where from 2-3 to 5-6 a week. I'm guessing somewhere in the middle?
