Utah!

Ok I set eggs. Like every single one in sight. Some are muddy, I didn't have the self control to toss any. Scared to wash them much so I am closing my eyes and hoping. Crossies lol

Here we go hatching 2016. @Cynthia12 ...

Yay, chicks. I can't wait to start hatching in the spring. I just need my bantam Cochin to start laying so she can go broody (never thought I'd say that considering all the complaining I did last summer trying to break her). The chicks she raised last fall have been friendly and even tempered, so I can't wait to let her hatch again. I'll probably try and get some eggs for the bator too and let her raise all the chicks.

Well 'heck' hath no furry like a unset egg! You guys are killing me here… Now I am a wanting to set some, and I do not even have a incubator. I might have to literally 'set' on mine.

SideWing, do you have a photograph or two of how you deployed your wire pens? I am looking to see how to 'engage' several of them, stacks or side by side?

Bitsy, like the picture stuff, Red, sorry about the cat. I just had a tad of drama with mine, I like my mammal a lot. Lisa, please control your self…

Ok guys I comment super rarely on here but every time I do it seems that I'm asking for advice so thanks in advance for helping me out again! So my Aunt has a showgirl that has been acting very lethargic and has super green and white diarrhea. She doesn't want to move much or do anything and I've been feeding her a mixture of food, meal worms, vitamins, and this morning I gave her some yogurt with probiotics in it. Her crop is normal and she is processing what food we are making her eat. And when she's inside she's a lot more active than when she is outside and she's pooping all be it extremely runny and green. I don't think it's worms either. What could this be and what should be do.

RJ, should you decide to sit on eggs, do take a picture, lol! :)

Welcome, Angus!

Lisa, you made me giggle. I love how you even have eggs on the thermometer. No space wasted! And I am drooling over the variety of colors you have!

It seems as though I am getting closer to stopping in at Trader Joe's to pick up some fertile eggs for funsies. DH keeps dropping hints about the incubator. I get the feeling he is hankering for Brahmas, though. Someone at work was chatting with him about them and told him how big they are...... I'm pretty sure my husband likes giant chickens. Think I should make a stab at talking him into Jersey Giants?! :D

Sambi, I hope you can figure out what's going on with the SG, sorry. Does she get any vitamin supplements?

Sorry, I'm posting so much today. I'm dealing with something similar. I took my barred rock to the vet with similar symptoms and he found there was no obvious reason why she was sick. The antibiotic really helped her perk up. Still has diarrhea though although I know an antibiotic can cause that too.

If you aren't already, I found the puppy pee pads to be awesome cage liners when dealing with that kind of sickness.

If the show girl is a pet, you could try the vet. They need to do a gram test. Unfortunately the one avian vet I know of wouldn't do the gram test without an office visit so you're looking at $35 for the visit, $30 for the gram test.

Hopefully someone on here knows more than me :)

She's been getting Poly Vi sol NO iron for the last 3 days and she seems to be a little less runny in the poo's than yesterday. Yesterday it was completely liquid. Today I gave her more vitamins as well as some yogurt with probiotics. I have antibiotics but I haven't given her them yet. I hate to use them when it's not absolutely necessary.

It appears that a very large neighborhood cat has taken interest in my chicken coop. She comes every night looking for a place to get inside
