Its your fault you said it was ok . We found them at IfA in hyde park .  And from what they said we have that 80% chance of 2 pullets and one rooster. So if there right we will have fertile eggs this time next year.

Awesome! I hope the genders work out--That would be fun to have those chocolate eggs :) I could see the chicken math going on in her head when we were talking :yiipchick That stuff gets me in trouble

You'll have fertile eggs before next year- last year, I got a BCM chick about this time last year. Turned out to be a rooster. I hatched his first babies at the end of August. The mommies were 15 month old EE. Sooooo, you could have babies sooner.

Corvidae, I'm dying to see this ugly rooster of yours!

Here's my two lav ameraucanas in the middle.

Ok, these aren't the best pictures, but I'll try to get a clearer one with my camera later, if needed. Here's the back of the BSL chick:

See the pinkish-white areas there? They kind of protrude out, almost like ribs or something.

I don't know if it's the breed or her genes or what. Even when the other two babies were as young as her, they didn't look like that. She doesn't seem to be sick or anything, though. She's quite keen and will watch me calmly when I'm peeking into the brooder, even when the other two chicks don't know I'm there.

The first baby is already out and another looks to be starting it's zip. They are always so mangy looking when they first get out of their eggs! I'll be excited to come home in the morning to see this one a little more on the fluffy side!

I am going to buried in chickens before long. After picking up layers and chatting with Lisa today. The wife decided that want a chicken for a certain color is OK. So besides the 2 girls we got from Lisa we had to pick up a couple of Marans. Because the boss wanted dark brown eggs. So we now have 6 slw , 4 phoenix , 3 marans and will be picking up 5 old english bantams. I thought only rabbits multiplied this fast.

I've had quite a few chicks like that Red. It will fill out. Just needs some time. Sounds healthy, just have to wait on it to get the pin feathers in.

Aww, look at that full tummy of yolk. It has it's eyes open, wondering what in the world? It's cold all of a sudden! Then it doesn't take them long to start acting like chickens. Pecking at each others eyes, and toes. Looking for food. No mom to show them, just out of a bator. I find some are more mixed up with that than some. What is this breed? Going to be a pretty black chicken. At least from first look! :)
