Welcome back! I'm betting your weather was better than ours this past week. I know we need the moisture, but jeez! We woke up to more than 8 inches of wet sloppy snow here in Highland Friday morning. My kids didn't have school on Friday and after they got good and soaked through, we were stuck in the house all day. No fun for any of us. I'm officially sick of winter.

The UFPA show schedule says it starts at 8:00 on Saturday - maybe you could do both? Auction is at 1:00. I'm really, really hoping we can make it up there for at least a couple of hours on Saturday. Our tile is still not down (ugh), but I'm hoping that by Saturday we'll be at a point where we can leave the house.

Does anyone on here know if people just have birds for sale at the show? I'm interested in getting a few more, but I am pretty sure I won't be able to attend the auction at 1:00. Also, from the info I could find on their website, it looks like only breeding pairs and trios are available at the auction - is that correct? I'm interested in getting some more birds, but really do NOT want to have to get a rooster. I'm not interested in breeding my birds (at least, not yet, hehehe).

I remember reading somewhere that on the cages, the birds for sale would be noted as such. So I'm assuming that there will be birds for sale outside of the auction. As for what's at the auction, I have no clue if they are just sold in multiples.

Park City, Utah.

4th go-round. Neighbors gave us some eggs fm theirs and the difference between them and "organic/cage free" store eggs is night and day as ya'll know.. so decided we just couldn't choke down any more enemic eggs.

Last time had the most awesome coop/yard & chickens but truck needed $1,500 in repairs and selling my coop/girls was the quickest way I knew to get it. They went to a wonderful home in Idaho (the guy made two trips, 5 hrs one way!) and we so miss the little quail antwerps and especially one little cochin banty named Mango.

Went to IFA (not my favorite place to buy) to buy 8... can't count LOL and we have 15.

So back to coop building but have a new idea. We have a 4' high dog run we don't use. Think I'll have the hubby build a mezzanine type coop above the back part. The yard would have housed 6-8 just fine but now I'll need to go buy a couple panels to enlarge it.

Anyway, good to be back!

I was at the Auction last year. There was singles and pairs and trio's and even quads in the Auction. There also some people that do private sales and have the for sale signs on the caged birds.

Also if you do want to get in on the Auction you have to get a number so get there a little before 1pm

Never posted on an online chat room before but glad I've found B.Y.C.

I live in Taylorsville City Utah and my local code enforcement official told me today that chickens are not allowed in my R1-8 zone even though I have a fairly large 0.36 acre lot.

The official informed me that the Taylorsville City Council is looking at changing the ordinance but didn't know who was working on it or when it may come up for public comment. I am curious if there are others in Taylorsville facing the same issue. If so, I would like to network with you and see how we can help make the new ordinance more reasonable. My family raised chickens while I was growing up in Taylorsville and would like to give my children the same opportunity. I would also appreciate any info or insight from people who are working on or have worked on changing S.L.C.'s ordinance. I firmly believe that I should have the right to collect a fresh nutritious egg from a happy healthy hen in my own backyard!

I would post an ad on ksl.com under poultry. Knowing it'll probably get pulled (but that's the only place that the ppl that need to see it will), I would put them "for sale" but with a clause with something to the effect pending outcome.... That way you are not deceiving ppl or KSL, yet getting the word out.

I'd also look on there because I've seen a lot of ads for chicks fm Taylorsville. In fact, I 'think' there's a breeder of Quail Antwerps fm there. If you can find him, he shows his chickens and may have some input.

I hope this helps.
