Utah!

Bree, I know that the IFA in Salt Lake will have theirs starting tomorrow!
I talked to them this morning. I'm going in in the morning for feed, super excited to hear all the little cheeping

Must. Resist. Buying. Chicks... Oh, I really wish I didn't know this! I have 6 Marans eggs, 13 Welsummer eggs, 1 Swedish Flower egg, 1 Orp egg, and another dozen Welsummer eggs that should be here today, all a-incubating away. The last thing I need is more chicks!. Well, maybe the last thing is more cats. Or more Leopard Geckos. Hard to say.

On the other hand, I do need more feed for the 5 babies already in the brooder and the big girls outside, and it wouldn't hurt to look, right? Right??

I have 7 serama chicks so far. 6 are fine. One was born with its intestines on the outside and wrapped around its neck, YUK, I had to dispatch it. The chicks are really little and cute, different colors pics later

Hey yall, I'm from Hooper, Utah. I have 5 pullets and looking to get about 4 more chicks this Spring. Does anyone know what week the stores (IFA, Cal-Ranch) will be putting their baby chicks in stores? I'm so anxious to get more & I want to have first pick

Or does anyone know any local hatcheries that sex chicks?

I'm in Salt Lake and have several different kinds of chicks that are sexed female. What are you looking for?

Donna, go look, go look! hehe, I cannot wait to go peek, the IFA south location here said ten days last Saturday.. The North has more room, so I am hoping they get their's at the same time, I have a couple common breeds I am keeping my eye out for. I just LOVE looking at the chicks at the store, so many, i can sit there and stare at them for hours. The store people probably think I am a little nuts.

My eggs are looking good:) Wheaten Ameraucanas this time, just a few but they look to be all developing. Hoping to set more marans eggs the first part of next week :)

Congrats Hattie on the pips, hoping to hear news and pics on chickies :) Unless i missed it...I got behind there for a few days. Sundance, congrats on your baby seramas too, too bad about the one with defects, I have had one like that, every time it chirped stuff was coming out, it was awful!

My Polish keeps getting cannibalized out in the coop, she recovered fine from the dog bite, but she has some blood feathers broken off/growing in around her tail and they just keep munching on her, I got so fed up at my girls yesterday! I finally put the big black grow out cage in the coop, and put her in it to protect her. Now they just all sit and stalk her. That is the ONLY thing about chicken keeping that I do not like, the way they like to eat blood, it grosses me out :sick I had some issues last spring with this and had to rehome some meanies, this time it is all of them, they got a taste of her tail and just won't leave her alone. I have tried no-pick lotion with the tea tree oil, bitter spray, nothing works, those couple feathers would just drip and they were chowing down on the shavings that the blood dripped on, then attacking her like she were Sunday dinner. I need to get her feathers grown out a bit so that it is not so attractive to the others. I am worried about the pattern this has created in my flock though!

Blujems, just saw you have more babies! Congrats on those woo hoo! You are going to be a busy gal. Hope you get your balance back and feeling better though, be sure to get the rest you need. Let me know how the marans eggs are coming, I will stop over when there is a dozen ish :)

Hello everybody. New to the boards and stumbled on to this post from Utah. I am up north hear in Plain City and have a question. Does anybody know of any local (ogden area) mills that sell mash in smaller quantities. Don't want to have to buy a lot at one time, but from what I have read you can get the mash for about half the price of pellets or crumbles. Any help would be much appreciated.

Yes I have 7 in the kitchen at the moment and 2 outside that are being bottle fed every 4 hours. I am moving slow today though, stress and not much sleep seems to always bring on an attack. Should get back to normal soon though. (at least until next week, LOL)

I have 6 FBCM eggs now and should get 2 more tonight. They are slowing down. But I have been getting more ameraucana eggs and so far have gotten 3 from sparkles. So you can pick what you want from them. Then I will set what is left. :)

Awesome! I would love to get a baby girl from Sparkles. This one I have is definitely a boy. I need to get it rehomed, you guys want him? You could probably put him with your bcm chicks, he is not quite as big, but fully feathered and was a bigger chick, would probably get along with that group ok. I am starting to worry the Ameraucana might be a boy, the feathers are awfully red around the head, but so far the body is staying more buff and not too blue. Will keep that one a little longer to see :) How about I come Sunday again for eggs? ;) I imagine you are not going too far from home with all those babies lol! Just let me know a good time.

Cynthia, how did your MRI go?

My ELVIS was on the nest this morning, looking very very much like she is trying to lay!!!!!:ya And I was so happy yesterday, my girls are picking back up, I got the most eggs so far in one day from my flock. Hooray! I have 5 that have quit and not started again, the rest are laying (except ELVIS, but maybe that will change today!) I got 18 eggs yesterday. I was getting 15-16 back in November, but have been down to 8-12 most of the winter.

I will get pics in a few minutes of Sparkles baby, and the wheaten, and my showgirl/showguy. That showgirl is getting soooo fluffy and cute, but I worry I kept the boy and sold the girls. Would love to have you guys all give me your opinion!

Well I know silkies are hard to sex and ifa just sells them in straight runs. I wanted to order off my pet chicken to be sure I got ladies but I didn't want to wait till June to get them.
