Utah!

Blu, congrats on the kids! They are so cute. I hope that doe continues to improve.

Congrats on your broody hen. Any idea how far along the eggs are? Good luck.

Lisa, hope you can fix your broody soon.

Is it going to jinx me if I admit I've only had one hen ever go broody on me?

Sundance, is your twin frizzle to mine laying yet? Mine's comb is still pale, but her wattles are getting really dark.

I moved my chicks outside a couple days ago. They look totally feathered in, and are basically the same size as my frizzle. At 6 weeks, it's a little on the early side, especially for winter, but I was cleaning their brooder twice a day and my house just stunk. I have the brooder light quite close to the ground, and they seem to be doing just fine.
I don't think my girl is laying yet. She is not red at all. She hangs out by the heat lamp a bunch

And while I was going to sleep last night, I had a thought.........I sure hope you guys know thow much I love and appreciate having such good friends on here. Yes, even those of you that don't care for the mush

Well today's been a fun day for me so far. I started fishtailing on my way to work and almost wrecked, thank goodness there weren't many other cars around me. And I've got some kind of rash on my arm that showed up yesterday. Tried to research it and found it may be viral, which would explain why I felt so terrible yesterday. It hadn't even ocurred to me that I might actually be sick!

Oh yeah, and guess what my BF found in his back yard yesterday? A cute little white ferret. I freaked out when he first told me, but now I want to catch it. We think it's somebody's pet that got away.

Just got back from Duchense-- all the girls are doing great, but I'm just about ready to strangle the crowing from the Roos. They NEVER shut up! I don't recall them ever being quite this noisy!
We brought down 5 BLRW eggs and 1 Isbar and stuck them all in the incubator. There were more eggs up there, of course, but they were frozen, so we could only take what was laid yesterday and this morning. The girls aren't being overly prolific yet with the laying.

And speaking of eggs, Zach now has 7 leopard gecko eggs in his incubator! He's very excited. His new shipment of super worms came today, so he is happily fattening all the geckos up again.

Great to hear all the chickens were well...and none missing!! What are you going to do with all those Roosters? I know, I know...Lisa would love, love, getting a few of them.
<< Here's what Lisa is thinking of doing to me about now as she reads. Man, I wish I could have roosters. My DH said to me this morning, you would keep all of your chicks you hatched if you had more land wouldn't you? I said, no, but I sure would have some different breeding pens, then I told him which ones I would love to breed.

EE's..I have a chick, it's a silvery/blue chipmunk too, but not as silvery as Reds. I have several pips, one being at the very wrong end, end, of the egg. May be helping that baby out later. I know it is getting air right now. Not too worried. But, when they pip at the end like that, you have to worry about them actually turning, and then cutting of their air. The pip looks bigger than this morning.

Hey Sphinx. Always good to see you on here. You are always so busy. Thank you for the congrats on my son. He was very happy to say the least!
Are you hatching, or setting eggs soon?

My hen just laid her first egg of the year.

She'd been on break all winter.
I think I'm having too much fun keeping her in the shower, I'm not sure I ever want to move her back into a chicken coop. She can stay a house chicken for all I care. Though I'm not sure the rest of the family agrees.

The most surprising part is that the dog and cat smell worse than she does, and they still get to stay in the house.

The real question is if keeping two chickens in the house would tip the smell factor. I don't want her to be alone forever.

Too bad the shower is only big enough for one.

Red, I'm glad you didn't wreck your car. That would've been such a nightmare!

Corvidae, glad things were going well at the fort. Good luck with the hatches, especially the leopard geckos! I truly do want one of those noisy roosters. I'm hoping he won't crow all night here though.

Joybells, congrats on your egg! Finally!

I think I'll hold off until I start doing school hatches. I'm having a really hard time though because it's been confirmed that my legbar mom/FBCM dad *IS* a sex link offspring, and I'm assuming it'll lay olive eggs. I do have three eggs sitting under my friend's broody hen. But, I gave them to her, so they're not MY responsibility. Yay! She has two legbar and one olive. They'll hatch two weeks from today. I can't wait to see what she gets.

Oh, by the way, I figured out who was laying that Welsummer-colored egg! I moved my 2 Isbar hens up to the land last week and when I was checking eggs up there, that pen had the same eggs mixed in with the green Isbar eggs. I thought the darker girl in there was an Isbar, but clearly she isn't! The other one definitely is an Isbar, but I'm thinking the blackish one is maybe a Marans of some flavor? Her eggs aren't dark like a Marans-- definitely more Welsummer color, but there was that Marans chick I ended up with last season. Thought it had perished in The Great Chicken Plague, but I can't think where else this hen would have come from. I'll take a picture of her next week when I go upand see if anyone can ID her.

Still haven't figured out how the one egg got in the living room, but I blame the boys just for fun.

Joybells, i think everyone needs a house chicken. I think i might try to find some button quail for my inside chickens. But in the meantime i will be happy with my little bantam broody's. They only poop 1 or 2 times a day, and for 21 days they just set there and talk to you, as long as you dont try to touch them. Oh ya, i am going to Spanish Fork this weekend to help my sister move if anyone needs some chicks picked up or taken that direction. Its only a couple miles from Cynthia's coop.

here is my little Momo with her first clutch of eggs
