Utah!

Just cleaned everyone out, and took some pictures of the new babies. Any ideas what they might be. Was told they were all blue or dark brown eggs, and that most of the blue ones didn't make it. They are all so different except for the black ones, they all look pretty much the same. I thought I got all of them, but most have missed one. They are so extremely happy tonight. They have seemed really scared all day, but after bedding change, they have all been running around scratching up all the bedding every where and rolling around in it. At least they seem much happier tonight.

#1, blackish legs down to the toes

#2 One one with puffy checks, dark green/blackish legs, EE?

#3, does have a white spot on the head, probably a Roo, yellow legs

#4 Does have black feathers on the bottom part of the wings.

#5, Black legs down to the toes.

#6 greenish legs down to the toes

Update on Expedee the cat: He was doing better this morning, with his labs looking more stable and him up trying to play with the drip on his IV, so they went ahead and did the surgery. He had a huge rupture in the abdominal muscles, which is actually good. Much easier to put the interstines back in through a large hole rather than a small one. He is all sewn up and recovering pretty well. We went to see him again tonight before I came in to work and, while he was obviously having some pain, he still purred at the boys and seemed rather comforted that they were there. They had to take him off the pain meds yesterday because he was having some serious adverse reactions to whatever they were giving him. They've started a different one post-op and, hopefully, that will keep him comfortable. Vet says if all goes well, he can come home tomorrow or the next day.

I feel bad for my chickens--haven't had any time to do more than throw food and water in their coops. I'm not even sure if we got eggs collected today.

Yeah! So happy to read that he is doing much better. Poor kitty.

I dont know about the others but they look like mixed. #2 and #6 will be kind of interesting to see turn out. If #6 is as blue as it looks i would keep that one just to see how it turns out.

Right now they are all here, my friend called saying her son told her I took the chicks. I told her why and how they looked. She said they looked that way on Friday. Just makes me sick. She lives in Orem, and she said she was going to talk to her hubby about maybe taking 3 of them. But of course not till they get older, and they would need to get a coop. So we will see.

#4 looks like my Delaware babies. :) And, # 6 has green legs? EE .. :) They look so alert and happy. Nice job!

I named the Buttercup today... She is Miss Queen Bee.. I just love her double comb, and her marking right now scream bee, I know she will totally look different all grown up, but she's my Queen Bee right now. Haha..

A Delaware would be fun.

What else is everyone hatching? Americana?

Speaking of chicken trains...
Sphinx I gave your number to Joybells she was thinking there was a way to come to Ogden tonight if you could drive her chicks that far after you come to my place tonight...was not sure if the timing would work so you guys can chat and see.....I also have the two for Christina so she may check with you....not sure if she could get to you tonight though.

I lost my prettiest Houdan girl last night. She got picked on a week or so ago, when Christina came to visit we noticed she was hiding her head and had been picked on, so I separated her and she healed up fine, went back in the run yesterday and it happened again. She just sits there, she won't run away at all from the big girls...but she got chewed up by her tail again, I put her back in her little spot with the Polish separated and she just laid there all night and was gone this morning. Like she gave up. Dang! She was short and fat, really cute, big crest--wanted to use her with the rooster I kept. The other Houdan female is more long necked and small crested. I absolutely love this breed, they are so sweet, but they really do get picked on a lot. Might have to make a separate area for them if I decide to keep a little flock of them. Hindsight ***sigh*** I feel bad I put her back in, I should have waited dang it! The GSL that was caught picking on her is on my ***list right now, for sure!
I'll have to call Sphinx tomorrow and check what's good for her.... thanks Casa!!!

Oh, so sorry to hear about your girl

. I had a bad feeling when I saw her. I think that's a really good idea for them to have their own 'safe' zone. Poor girl!

I *think* I got a call from Joybells' dad, arranging chicken train. I know I'm picking up something from Lisa tonight, and am meeting him in Taylorsville on Thursday evening. Does this ring a bell? I got realizing I didn't know her real name, so I didn't dare start asking about user names. ROFL

I'd be happy to drive anything else down here from Logan, so definitely text, PM me or whatever. :)

Lisa, I'm so sorry about your Houdan.
Hi Sphinx

Since you're coming to Taylorsville on Thursday, I can meet you and pick up the roos. Would that work for you?
