: I know some people swear by the sand in the run. I may be persuaded myself at some point, but for now, I am trying to keep large amounts of compost as I slowly, piece by piece, convert my yard into a food source. I blame it on the chickens. All I wanted was a pet and was able to persuade DH that since they lay eggs, they would make a good pet. See if he ever listens to me again![]()

Managed to get rid of the pullets and the cuckoo maran hen.......Now I have the Ameraucana Trio left and the SLW....This guy might come back for the trio though, he really liked them.
PLus all the meat boys that need to go ( I am not able to physically butcher them) They are getting close to that age.
Oh ya and the broody FBCM....Not sure what to do with her.
I totally want to see how its done too, not ever planning on doing it, but would like to know how its done. I'm sure I could manage to actually kill the bird, but I want to know how to get all the feathers off.Uh oh. Now who is going to give my DH the butchering lesson? He wants to learn how but no one to show him lol. I want to know how too, just in case I ever need to, but won't be doing that unless I am starving lol
