Okay, I seriously need an intervention

.

Yesterday, I went to Roosevelt to deliver some of my stored kid's clothes, to a woman who had a seriously ill child (brain surgery). Upon arrival she mentioned she had seen that I have a hatchery on the local yard sale site, and that her rare pullets were getting eaten by their new puppy. She suggested I buy them and save them from a horrendous death. I had to look at them!!! Couldn't help myself!!

She had a Salmon Fav. I had just decided to keep my two SQ Sal Fav chicks (they have turned out to be a roo and pullet
clap.gif
) so I had to get her, right??? LOL

Then she had a Russian Orloff. My neighbor had been complaining that her hen didn't have the nice beard that her roo had, which had gotten really mean and had to be re-homed. This pullet had a beautiful beard (I know nothing about ROs!!!). So I had to get that. Right????
gig.gif
(I was informed upon gifting this pullet to my neighbor that I was blind.... it was a cockerel...lol. I was looking at the beard!!! And making sure they all were healthy, with no lice or mites!!!)

The Cuckoo Maran again was gorgeous and since I also had decided to keep my 2 CM chicks.... needed her when I find a roo!! See where this is going??

Well, the two Barnvelders, even though I don't do them, just ended up in my carriers.... really still don't know why on those, yet. There must be a reason!!

Yet, I drew the line on the 2 Black White Faced Spanish pullets. Really wanted them but something stopped me on those. I had read those are really hard to keep in the winter. We can have frigid winters here..... have to keep heaters on the waterers and have warm oil heaters in the coops. Plus, didn't want to have to track down another roo and make more work building another coop and run for something I didn't think would carry itself in the market world, around here.

With having a hatchery, I've realized each egg is so very precious!!! If they aren't inc bound, they go into the 'eating egg' orders of which are growing. One egg lost means money.... money lost means other avenues I must find to get my feed store bill paid. No longer do I have eggs piling up in my fridge, or am cooking them to feed back to cluck clucks.

I dreamed last night that I had an order to supply ALL the Easter Eggs.... awoke wide awake, 'bout had a stroke.

Desert, I get my business cards from Vista Print. They are much cheaper than any local store, and I'm impressed with the quality and turn around time. They have templates, but I design my own.

All this talk of bountiful baskets makes me want to get one this weekend.
Thanks Sphinx. That is exactly who I'm going to use.

They did an awesome job on my wedding invites a couple years ago and so fast!!!

I just met a woman artist here who does scenery and animals. She was in the library. Had to use them since my printer bit the big one
sad.png
. She saw me printing chicken pics (cause the poster I paid so much for that was supposed to show all breeds of chickens, doesn't!
rant.gif
) and queried me. She's going to do the design and then I'll have them done. She mentioned that chickens had been her new love and she hadn't had a chance to do many, since she didn't know anyone with chickens. I think we can come to an arrangement...lol
gig.gif
. She is really, really good. She is on sabbatical here to get away from the city. She showed me some of her work on-line. Incredible!!!

I love the visual. "crazy lady in robe with net" Haha
big_smile.png
LOL... you have no idea how silly I must've looked. I was wearing my little ballet slip-ons and prancing around on the rocks as I was running after that little hen. My long hair wasn't even brushed and I washed it last night and went to bed with it wet. Someone really needed to take a video and we'd have won $10,000!!! Actually, I do that when the horses get out too.... wow, I must have a reputation for BEING the crazy lady!!

I got myself some LF Faverolle eggs just because of how she lays! I think your new baby will come around, and not seem so slow, she just needs to get to know your area, and not be afraid. I wonder if the where your new Favorelle was didn't have a roost, didn't have a water bowl..things are different for her, you watch, she'll get smart.

My little gal is. When I start picking grass to throw into her run, she starts really walking along the fence and talking away. Then as I go to open the door, she will often time jump up at the door. She loves her grass!
I agree!!! Everything is new to her. The poor thing had nowhere to roost. These people had a coop at one time but their little boys burnt it down last winter. The fencing was flimsy wire that shouldn't have been used as fencing. No trees, nothing in the yard for shade.... no wonder they lived under the mobile home. No feeders and no waterers.... the people just left the hose on drip and threw scraps out the window and door. Granted, their chickens were heafty and well fed but just didn't know anything else.
he he, me too..I think I saw a blue robe.
Cynthia, oh my, how did you know it was blue??

. You must have a chicken cam running here!! Great, now we can win the $10,000!!

HELP!! my broody isn't looking good her face is all yellow white, she's hatching the last of her clutch, and i Just don't know what to do for her.

Cynthia that is one gorgeous bird i love her but have too many the feed is getting expensive.
Rykel, is she getting enough water??? Is she cool enough??

She's getting a drink, i have a chick water-er in with her that i saw her use, but i guess she decided she didn't like it...i don't know how to cool her down farther she's inside with the air conditioning (it gets to about 78-80 ish) so unless i move her into the front room where there's a ceiling fan or downstairs where it's arctic... but my big dogs like chicks...i did pull the cover off so they would get more air...

Thank you!

Ohhhhhh Geez. Must you torture me so?

Those are adorable. And sooooo bearded....

Desert---your comment about Blu's chicken buyer reminded me of someone we were dealing with last Spring

lol Some people are just not very thoughtful!

We have had more clouds up here in Logan with no rain than I have ever seen. What is up? It just keeps going around us.

Gizmo, my black crested White Polish. Very Sweet, very much holds her own with the big girls...but she likes to yell every time she sees me and won't stop. Even when I am right there petting her she yells. She lays an egg most every day. 6 a week. Early day layer. She is so talkative, but a little bit more than what i need with 2 roosters crowing day and night.

Anybody want her? She is going on KSL today.

Looks like a few of us have chicks and chickens on ksl today. Good luck to everyone.

Rykel..believe it or not, she actually looks pretty good for a broody. I have seen worse. She won't be much longer on eggs will she? She will soon start bringing her babies out and about. Then, you still worry some, because they always let the babies have the food and scraps first. Just make sure there is a lot of food for them in there, so when she is done handing it out first, that she will get her own. I remember when I finally separated my Faverolle from her chicks, I decided it must have been time! She ate right away, like a pig! She gained her weight back pretty quick, and she didn't do the cluck cluck sounds after only a day. Her coloring came back, and she looked normal again. The babies were calling, but she was fine that they were in another pen. :)

What do you guys think about all the toddlers being found wandering alone? I'm very confused with this. Who would loose track of their child that long? and thank goodness they aren't being found by pedophiles.
The one kids baby sitter didn't realize he was gone from 730 to noon and only then because he was on tv? I'm not trying to be judgemental but I'm very confused by this.

I know, I was just going to post something on Facebook, I can't believe now they found another one. I guess its lost kid day, and the 1st one they said it took the parents 4 hours to call in that they were missing that boy. What is wrong with people.

Yes, I'm guilty, I have chicks on KSL. I feel awful re-homing them. But I can't keep them all, and I think my neighbor is out for several months on finishing the chicken coop, and I'm not sure if he will ever be well enough to do it, not looking so good over there, and myself and another neighbor offered to help, but I really don't think they want the added stress of the chickens. I'm going to keep 3 of her chicks to see how they turn out for myself since they have been here for weeks. But there are few that are for sure going. The other neighbor took 2 yesterday. He's keeping them in case they get the coop done, and I will have the other 3 too just encase they get it to work out.

Brian is bringing me over his leghorn packing peanuts today, I'm sure they are all Roos, but if anyone wants a Leghorn Roo, let me know, because they are going on KSL when I get photos of them, unless one looks girly. I need a solid white chicken, right?
